    Hi,

    Two questions if I may…

    1) For some reason my tracks are acting funny – When I import clips they do not link – meaning I will move the video and the audio does not follow, when I cut the audio the other audio track and the video does not cut too.

    2) If I copy a clip and want to paste it into a different track how do I do that? I can only paste onto the track I cut it from – does that make sense?

    many thanks in advance

    Hi,

To edit both audio and video into your timeline, make sure that the tracks are switched on for editing, ie, towards the left of the timeline the second switch (move your mouse over it, it’ll sat SOURCE) needs to be on – attached to the video or audio track.
Make sure that you have a source thats switched on for video and two for audio if you’re working with two channel audio.

As far as not being able to razor both video and audio clips together, it probably means that they aren’t linked. Select the clips you want linked and hit CMD+L.

    1) Look at the top right of your timeline and see if linking is on or off (there’s a button for it). SHift L will turn it on or off. If it is on, turn it off.

2)You must learn to use autoselect. Some people hate it, some people love it. Coming from Media 100, I personally think it’s a pretty cool feature once you figure it out. The autoselect boxes are the little boxes to the right of the track selectors on the left of the timeline. You need to select the tracks where you want to copy the footage to. Let’s say your footage is on v1, and a1a2 and you want to paste into v2 and a3a4. If you option-click the v2 autoselect box (option-click selects only the v2 box and turns the other off) and then option-click the a3, then regular click the a4 autoselect boxes, your clip should now paste into those tracks. Make sense? It sounds much more complicated than it is, but once you learn it, it’s a pretty sweet feature. Post back if you have issues.
