File|Save-As check the box ‘copy media’, select trimmed or full, and specify new location. (I’m not sure of the exact wording.)

You might look into adjusting the mic sensitivity in the windows audio mixer input. Click on volume control on the tray icon (near the clock) and click mixer. (windows 7) It may not show an input if the mic is not connected.

I’m running two systems on 60GB SSDs, that are about 1/2 full. If you think about it the only stuff that goes on it is Windows and software. Go add it up. Your ‘My Documents’ and other user file folders will be relocated.

If I was maxed out and could trade the 560 for a 550 ti and get an SSD, I would get the SSD. I think your system will be faster over all.
The last 6 systems I built were around $2000, three with SSD’s three without. There is a difference!
Then Raid (stripe) the two hard drives (are they 64 MB cache?) and get some speed there. You will be happy with this system.

You could save an additional $26 by switching to the Antec 300, currently $82 free shipping, versus the 900 $100 + $8 shipping. Not quite as flashy, but flashy wears off quick. When you get more hard drives you can add a $15 fan up front. These cases are real nice.

Correction, the i7 2600k (#12 on your chart) is $319, only $89 more. Don’t get me wrong, the i5 is an excellent processor for email and word processing. All Sandy Bridge Core i5 processors have hyper-threading disabled. Vegas is a very multi-threaded application. If you buy the i5 you’re going to pay the difference in lost productivity multiple times. Be careful how you interpret price/performance info.

Let’s say you’re making a 1/2 hour show with multiple cameras. The difference in productivity between an i5 and an i7 is going to be about 8 shows. So your company is going to spend the money over and over with a slower CPU. Get more memory!

One thing you can check is your Dynamic RAM on the video tab of the properties page. If this is a high number (>512) this can choke your system. Set it to 16 or 32 and give it a try.

I have a very similar system, P6X58D, 24GB 2-GTX460, SSD, 4-cores on the i7, 9TB Raid, Win7-pro. All of it came in under $2000, a year ago (I’m a good shopper). I couldn’t agree with you more that this is a great system to work on.
