    Paul,

This is a long-shot but, is it possible that your quantize to frames is turned off when you add the media to the timeline. The codec may be trying to render a partial frame.

    Give it a try.

btw, how did the unwanted lines when masking thing work out?

John is a genius! I tried it all out and worked great. My first try I had to find the next frame after the split due to changing the velocity. The second try I adjusted the velocity before I split the event to add the transition.

    Steve,

I agree with you. I just don’t know why I’ve been spared all the problems.

I’m glad my software doesn’t crash. But every time I alter my workflow, with a new camera or plugin, I wonder if I’m opening a set of problems I’ve only had to read about.

John’s method works great. The only problem I see is Kelly wants the talent to freeze while this page roll or peel in stopped at the halfway mark. I guess you could make a clip of the leadup, freeze, and resume of the video and then add a custom transition progress to it.

Well, if it must be done with native Vegas tools, I would do it this way.

Everything is possible, it’s just a matter of how to get it done!

    Stephen,

Maybe we should get together and compare notes… I don’t get any crashes either, and I feel like the guy who ruined the party.

  • Dave,

So, I have a decent video card, a GTX 580 with 3GB. But, I have two 6-core Xeons, 12 real cores, hyper-threaded shows 24 cores. What exactly does the 16 core limit in Vegas mean to me? In resource monitor it is not unusual for Vegas to show 280+ working threads. I have my GPU rendering off because I did not notice any benefit.

I would really like to squeeze all I can out of this machine.

  • Thanks Mike, I haven’t used it in years.

  • Get this file https://download.sonymediasoftware.com/current/extras/vegasscripts.zip

In it you will find RenderImageSequence.js
    Execute it from Tools|Scripting|run script

It is pretty much self explanatory. Do the math first on how many stills, still interval, length on screen, length of output, etc. Then just stack them up on the timeline by adjusting “New still image length” and “Automatically overlap selected media when added” in the preferences|Editing tab.

    That should do it.
