I’m not sure why you would want this? Is that so it takes less time to upload? Youtube will recompress everything, the Adobe Media Encoder/Premiere Pro preset for youtube makes a larger file, that is in essence, better for the transcode.

Sure. your compression rate should total about 460 kb/s (including audio) to get a file that size. At SD, that could be anemic to get 100mbs.Best,

Media uses Adobe Media encoder….if you press the Queue button, then you can compress later/multiple items in Adobe Media Encoder.
You still really need to answer the question: What are you trying to do with it.
Youtube? Export (media) using the youtube setting.
DVD? Export (media) using the DVD setting.When you replied, “Best quality” – I think you’re trying to say, you want to make a long term ‘master’ file to use later, so you can remove the existing media from your system. The answer for that is a little bit of a struggle, as Adobe doesn’t have their own editorial codec; and uncompressed files – which won’t add any additional damage – will be huge!

Run system profiler (in your utilities folder) and see if your mac sees them. If they appear there, then perhaps something can be done. If they do not appear there, then it’s likely that either a cable is bad or the drives are dead.

Have you tried a new user? If so, then what we’d want to do is pull the preference files for your user.
Also, for giggles, run disk utility and verify that the drive & permissions are good.

By now you’ve probably solved it..but just in case…
You could probably buy Leopard on ebay fairly cheap…
Or boot her machine in firewire mode, then plug it into your machine. Then use your install disks to upgrade the system.

The uninstaller thinks it’s uninstalled everything. Is everything gone? If not, re-run the installer, then uninstall, then install v5 (sounds like I’m on windows!)

Clip Menu: Render in/out
or Expert render in/out.Let’s see how that goes. Expert render won’t render Green dot effects that the system doesn’t think it needs to render.
