Next time ‘tell’ FCP you’re making a change by choosing to ‘open in editor’

Can you get it out at all? QuickTime Ref? How about to squeeze (where the tools for h.264 are stronger)

Take a look a this (From ken stones site) about how to adjust speed in FCP 7; I’m not sure if this is what you mean by tedious – it has pretty decent instructions on how to do complex speed changes.

So, if you’ll forgive that I’m hunting around and be patient, I’ll keep trying.
Hmm, Ok, so some quick googling leads me to believe that the problem is the “WHERE” for the share – can you change the location?

Eric,
I think you should keep the work is pristine as possible throughout the workflow.
DV is lower dominance–and that is a separate you should set it. You should definitely make sure that the audio is set to linear code pulse modulated, 48 kHz 16 bit audio stereo.
Truthfully, there will be some lossage to go to the DV codec. But, right now, will get 99% of the quality by making this choice.
Last, all DVDs are technically storing your video interlaced. What I think you’re asking is this “is it possible for me to optimize putting it back to a DVD noninterlaced?”
Generally, the only reason you’d like to dear Lisa source is playback on a noninterlaced device. You’ll have to do something that would degrade the quality of the look since was actually shot interlaced. I wouldn’t do this, but I’d only pick deinterlacing at the end of my chain–through Apples compressor–by using the frame controls (not the filter.)

Here’s the really confusing part of all this–the interlacing is meant to be there. I know you think it looks odd, but it’s actually meant to be there for interlaced sources.
What you want to do is export from MPEG stream clip as 720×480, in the DVCPro 25 codec.
Then we bring this into Final Cut Pro and you can treated as any other piece of DV video. The reason the interlacing is in there when you watch on the television set (or on Apple’s DVD player) is because they both are displaying interlaced material correctly.

Harsh reality.
You’re going to hate this idea, especially in such a market in ‘difficult times’. Quit. They’re clearly cutting back. Is it because the owner wants more money? Or doesn’t think music post is viable? Or knows that his editors won’t bitch? Or can hire kids out of school and who cares if their work is good? Or the owner has a drug/ex-wife/porn star/Charlie Sheen problem?
It doesn’t matter. They’re not going to give up more money- they let you know that when they fired the composer and didn’t hire someone else. The fact that it takes you longer to do the work? Yeah, you can bitch about it, but it’s not going to change.
Really angry? Go talk to an employment lawyer. If they’re hiring you freelance, but you work a full week for nobody else (and so does everyone else there) they may be violating your state laws on employment.
But none of it is going to get them to spit out more money, regardless of how ‘reasonable’ is sounds.
Sorry man.
