Two questions, both specific.

1) Your finished sequence: What is the format (frame size), Frames per second and codec?
2) What (and how) will the projection system play back?

You could select the clips (sorry – no in/out here) and use the Modify – Adjust Levels (and make sure it’s relative).

Same concept – you could also use the Control [ ] and Control – = (for +-1 and +-3db)

You can’t change the timebase once one single clip is in the timeline. Select all, copy, change the timebase, paste.

Ensuring your footage matches:
create a new sequence.
Drop the clip in the new sequence. FCP should ask if you want to make them match. Say yes.

You could open the avid media tool and use it to figure out whats on a given drive.

Then select the clips you’d like to move and choose Clip…Consolidate.

You can then copy them where you’d like (or tell it to the delete the original and you’d be moving them.)

Version 5.0 of MC should be able to work directly with the 5d footage – no transcode needed.

I did mostly presets – I wanted to verify which if any encoders showed a difference. I didn’t do much QC.

I think so – but not DVDSP – I think it’s your TV set.

I’ve been thinking about this all weekend..and besides the ‘analog’ nature of film, I wonder if any level of a motion blur would help.

But try the play out of the apple dvd player at the top of this post…

Are you sure it’s full 1920×1080 HDV? Usually HDV is 1440×1080. Which camera?

Sure: what kind of projector? What is its resolution? How is your footage going to be played back?

It’s not done like this. You change these over in compressor. Playing with them will cause all sorts of weirdness.

Project/sequence? Yes. It’s called “Easy Setup”. Export? No. you can export your sequence into a bucket of different settings….

I’m full of wild ideas….let’s try a couple

I’m sorry, when I wrote: Did you collapse the sequence?
I meant, did you select the clips and select ‘collapse multiclips’?
If not, could you try that?

As long as I’m playing loose and fast with your problem(s) (by the way – great idea calling Apple Pro Video support…)
Why not after collapsing the multiclip, export an XML of the clip, in a new project try importing the xml and then relinking it to your existing media.
Let me know if that makes sense.

Last, have you tried exporting a single timeline of all the video non-multiclip as a QuickTime reference?

I’d be curious if any (or all) of those crash fcp.

You want two copies? On both machines?

In the browser (with nothing selected) choose media Manager.

Copy, include render files. DO NOT delete any of the media.
Based media files on existing names.
Duplicate selected items and place into a new project.
Point the Media destination to the new machine (or drive.)
Point the new project to the new machine (or drive.)

This will copy ALL of the media to the 2nd machine – it’ll leave the original alone.

It think you’d really have to go to Soundtrack pro. You could get very sophisticated with submixing and bussing – and certainly could have sophisticated sends like this..
