You can use the ‘create keyframes from audio’ or ‘render audio to keyframes’ to generate a set of keyframes,…..then you can use a simple expression to offset the values to somewhere between say 0 and 100 using this value to control brightness of the light.
Although, honestly,…the best way to do this would be with Sound Keys from Trapcode.

You keep referring to this as a 2 hour long piece?? Are you planning on actually editing a 2 hour long piece in After Effects.
Also, on the DVD issue, remember that the video is compressed on the DVD to start with….so do as little compression as possible when you rip…otherwise the quality will start to really suffer.
Also,…once you do produce this 2 hour piece, you will need ALOT of hard drive space to store the final piece on.

Try the ‘remove interlace flicker’ filter from the ‘video’ effects.
Use a very small value like .1-.5 it DOES have a softening effect, but not noticably so If you are dealing with crisp elements to begin with…. Does wonders on uber-thin lines,…and may help with details in your pics vibrating……..

Using many different techniques.
Keying off a ‘perfectly shot’ bluescreen should give very good results,….but most keying, especially VFX work of pulling mattes from moving plates with Bg’s,..etc..etc. Involve roto’ing out the piece to get a clean key.
Using splines, garbage mattes..etc..etc….every few keyframes throughout the clip to cut out the object perfectly and then allow for a ‘clean’ key………There is a whole field devoted to just this type of work………..

Several ways to do it.
One would simply be to NOT have it loop: Open a comp, drop in the first piece….go to the frame before the first frame of black, then simply drop another copy of the same footage on top of it in the timeline starting at that single frame before the black. At the end of the 2nd piece, where the black is about to start simply drag the layer end point back or hit
+] (on PC). In essence you have made a segment consisting of your footage, looped twice, only without the black.
That is 1 down and dirty way to do it……….

I am not familiar with touch screens,..but considering how very small most of the icons, buttons,..etc..etc…are in AE wouldn’t it be very, very difficult to use?

Search for Ribbons on the cow. There is alot of info.
This question gets asked every 5 days minimum.90% of that type of effect IS done in a 3D app.

In AE, click on file -> Interpret Footage. Then set your Field dominance to match the footage as well as the frame rate.

This gets asked every 3 days.
85% it is a real 3D app.
Try searching the cow for ‘ribbons’…..it will yield alot of info.
