commercial spots and 3D ribbons/arrows
Theres a 30 sec. cell phone spot thats running these days that (cant remember the exact model or brand) has a phone moving around in 3D space while these 3D arrows are wrapping around it, masking transitions, and bringing in text which lay on top of the arrows. The spot is an amazing example of motion graphics and I’d like to know if anyone has seen it and felt the same way about the spot.
Anyone know how these arrows were created? It looks like it could slowly be accomplished 1 by 1 in 3D Invig. but im not sure that would be the most time effective solution to creating something like that.
Does anyone know which company/person put this together because i’d like to see it again. And is there a commercial spot gallery to see everyone’s work?

85% it is a real 3D app.
Try searching the cow for ‘ribbons’…..it will yield alot of info.

If you want to do 3D ribbons and arrows that actually wrap around an object or interact with it, learn a 3D app. Try Cinema 4D, it’s well-suited to that.
It looks as if a general announcement needs to be made: If you want to do 3D motion graphics for a living, learn a 3D app. I’m not talking about robots and character animation, I’m talking about motion graphics. Even if the objects are “graphic-looking”, with no highlights, reflections, depth or shadows, if they bend in 3D space, interacting with other 3D objects, they were not done in AE.
Effects like 3D stroke are fabulous, but if you want control over how the stroke bends in 3D space and interacts with other objects, you need to use a 3D app.
Regarding Invigorator, I’ve just crashed my head against its limitations too often. It’s great for what it does, but you should know its limitations. Hey, know the limitations of all your apps.
As for other examples, if you search the COW for inspiration, you should find a few. For one, try https://www.justincone.com/tween/ and look at the list on the right.
