HMmm……
As far as blending modes go,…what version of AE? 6.5 will let you do it fine. In an earlier version,..set all your blending modes in the pre-comp. THEN when you collapse they will pass on thru and be correct in the main comp.
As for the camera,…..the camera in your MAIN comp is what will now affect things. If you have a camera in your pre-comp it will create weirdness once collapsed into your main comp. If you are trying to retro-fit your scene with these techniques you may need to re-do your camera. “-( Also,…once you collapse, your x,y,z of your pre-comp elements now become ‘relevant’ as an offset to the precomps x,y,z placement in your main comp, check your Z placement of the precomp as you are now dealing with the z position of elements in your pre-comp added to your z placement of the pre-comp within the main comp (e.g. element in z comp at z of -100 AND pre-comp placed in main comp at z of -200, then that ‘element’ will be at -300)…..

You need to continuously rasterize the vector in the precomp AND the precomp itself. In effect what is happening WITHOUT doing that is that the vector image is rasterized at a specific size within the precomp. When you get too close or otherwise to the precomp it will still get jaggy because the vector object size relevant to the precomp has not changed. By collapsing the precomp itself the vector rasterization will now be relevant to itself withing both the pre-comp AND the main comp.

Not sure what your asking ofcourse,….but package prices have dropped tremendously over the last several years. They average less than 30% of what they were 4 years ago. THe money just isn’t there.
Good luck!

Hey Michael, howz things? I’m oughta that game now (up in Mi)..but I will offer my suggestions…
If it is a full blown news/station package, typically the list would be as follows: (modified somewhat based on discussions with them regarding exact specialty needs, ‘versioning’ done in house..etc)1) News short open (versioned for all news times)
2) News talent re-open (versioned for all news times)
2) Franchise opens (offer a few, then give AE files for them to version *see note below)
3) Special opens (Breaking news, Weather Alert…etc..etc)
4) 1 bump
5) Topical donut (open/transitions/close)
6) 1 station ID
7) Inshow package (still or animating or combination): Lower 3rds, banners, tickers, CG BG’s, WX pages, OTS, Live flag + other flags…etc..etc)
8) Sports open
9) WX open
10) coupla’ raw looping BG’s for their use* Typical to provide ALL AE’ files and projects to allow for additional station customizing. Amount of station versioning can affect $$$.
Any more ?,…just ask.

Drag all your ‘possible’ keeper elements you are unsure about into a comp. Then highlight both the comp you want AND the ‘storage comp’…..then proceed as above……this will allow you to keep your ‘might use’ pieces….
-
Simply hilight the comp in the Project window and select ‘reduce’ project from the file dropdown. This will eliminate ALL elements and comps NOT associated with the selected comp.
Save and import into your other project. If any identical footage is used, then select ‘consolidate footage’ to eliminate redundancy.

I am surely dense here, but I cannot fint the 3D Lite Assistants in 6.5 Pro anywhere. Not under window,.etc..etc….nor do I find any reference to them in the help files???
Could it have been a seperate install? An ‘xtra’ dload from Adobe??
AE6.5 was setup on this machine prior to my arrival at this firm, so I did not do the install……I will investigate further, ….but Myl, and additional info would be helpful…

June 7, 2005 at 11:21 am in reply to: News: Apple to Use Intel Microprocessors Beginning in 2006Seems obvious to me.
PC’s own 97% of the market,….Apple cannot get enough ;inadequate; chips from IBM to even keep up with a 3% marketshare!
Software companies don’t make MAC versions for tons of things due to the cost investment for just 3% of the market. Even Adobe has runors about of dropping AE for the MAC due to its ‘exponential’ yearly sales increase on the PC side, which is reducing it’s MAC % greatly……if Adobe dropped Apple,….Apple would lose its primary ‘industry’ market which is design and only be left with ‘itunes’ users at home. That thought alone could drive Apple to go Intel and keep Adobe.
It’s simply a matter of time till a box is a box and the OS of your choice is available…and all Apps run on all boxes. It will take some time,….but IMHO it is inevitable.
Also, lets not forget that Mr. Gates owns part of Apple,….and also ‘could in theory’ buy Apple 100 times over without missing a beat and do with it what he wanted,….think he cares about 3% of the market when he owns 97% of the PC OS sales?
Agendas are being put in place,….will be fun to see where they lead…..
No bias here,…I use MAC’s and PC’s….could care less what is what as long as I have the tools to do what I need….
