Right Click in bin, New Item, Sequence, Choose XDCAM EX 1080p24 (HQ) preset, OK, Drag SD 2997 Clip from bin to new sequence.

Cleared my preferences by holding the option key when starting up Premiere, but that made no difference.

I’m on a Mac so I can’t help directly. Perhaps the following is helpful:

    1. Downloaded the above file from your link and it plays fine. I am able to convert that file to other formats without errors. I assume this is a source. So the source appears to be fine.

    2. I am able to convert that to .avi via MPEG Streamclip, but not able to confirm playback given conversion process used to playback .avi movies on a mac, but even that process seems unremarkable.

    3. Have you tried another application like MPEG Streamclip to make the .avi conversion? https://www.squared5.com/

If MPEG Streamclip works then perhaps something is ill with AME; if Streamclip fails, then perhaps it is something on your PC.

Your version of AME and information on your operating system might help others as well.

  • Four weeks later and I have just experienced that super wonky behavior again.
It started by exporting the timeline with flashes to black instead of fade ups. Then after trashing preferences, doing the Adobe prefs and Adobe document folders user permissions trick, I could not open the application. Then it hung the entire computer. Reboot. Re-trash prefs and reset permissions. Then it opens the project, but no media, no sequences, no clips. Try and open local project that doesn’t depend on RAID, but internal media instead. No go. Try to shutdown. Premiere won’t force quit. Windows won’t go away. Have to hard crash the computer. Reboot. Re-trash Re-permissions– The 3 Rs of Adobe CC. I can now get it to open new project with all media on internal hard drive. Works. Open another project like it and it works. Progress. Cleaned media cache database. Open another project with all media on RAID and it works. Open original project that had nothing a few minutes ago and now it works. Only wasted 55 minutes on this today. What gives?

Even when it is working, the most noticeable glitch is when I have a clip in the timeline that’s been replaced with an After Effects Composition. It seems to work for awhile (hours), then the timeline freezes. I glide up and down the timeline, but the picture never changes. If I render that clip in AE and use it to replace the sent clip in the timeline, then the timeline behaves/plays normally. This is about the 3rd or 4th project on at least three machines that I’ve experienced this “Replace with AE composition” freezing.

Why doesn’t that feature work reliably? (perhaps this is another post?)

  • Thanks Kevin.

CUDA was not installed, but I’m on a Mac AMD GPU, so I think that is how it should be according to that article.

Permissions were not set correctly according to that other article.

I’ll post back if that cures my woes.

    Thank you again!

  • I don’t think I know of a hot key to drag it.

    Does this help?

    https://www.premiumbeat.com/blog/premiere-pro-cc-shortcuts/
    “Replace with Clip from Source:
    No Default (I use Shift + R)

Replace Edits looks at where the playheads are in the Source & Sequence (ignoring the In and Out). I have a video tutorial on this here for more detail.

  • I sync before I start editing. I’ve used Plural Eyes in Final Cut Pro 7 to greatly speed up the process. Red Giant says it’s compatible with Premiere Pro, but I’ve never used in Premiere.

  • Now Prelude won’t open a project. I get to the main screen, but just get spinning rainbow after I click “Open Project” icon. Trashed preferences to no avail. No diagnostic help from the program best I can tell. What’s it hanging up on?

I’ve run only software acceleration to avoid the glitches mentioned elsewhere. Don’t think I should update OS mid-project. I’ve also read (I believe on this forum) that people have given up on PPro2014 and 10.9.4.

Not really sure. It’s probably not the Commodore Green Flash Virus, though. 😉
Perhaps it’s the hardware acceleration incompatibility with Mac OS 10.9.3?
Would you mind telling us please the computer and operating system on which you are experiencing this trouble?

  • Having the same issue. In FCP log and transfer I could add custom fields to name my clip, like “Reel_Filename_ABCDE” All the clips would come into FCP with this very identifiable naming structure. I guess it was able to do that because it re-wrapped the file into a new QT movie. Prelude isn’t making a new movie.
    Disappointingly sad, but true.

June 28, 2014 at 6:29 pm in reply to: Timeline Scrolling preferance

    CC
hover over vertical scroll bar at right end of timeline doesn’t work for me.
like first poster, mine only scrolls horizontally.
I have to click on that tiny bar and hold it down in order to scroll vertically through the tracks. That’s a real drag.
