  • Can’t batch rename XDCam files when ingest to Premiere ProCC via Prelude CC

We recently put into operation the Cantemo file management system. We are using Prelude CC to ingest footage from our F800. Till now we’ve used “Sony XDCam Transfer”. We switched to Prelude for the ability to write customized metatdata. The issue is that Prelude will not allow me to rename the mxf files on ingest. I edit with Premiere Pro CC and truly need to see named clips in the bins.
Prelude Help states: Files that are a part of a complex folder struture (like P2) are not renamed. In such cases, the new name appears in the Prelude project because the new name is saved in metadata (Dublin Core > Title) and displayed as the clip name.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I’m open to using another ingest program. I can rename files if I choose to transcode on ingest but that adds a ridicules amount of unnecessary time.
    Thanks!
I’m using a Mac,10.9.2, 2×2.66 Ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon.

Actually this makes a lot of sense…based on the underlying technology…

    don’t be too hasty though…

the fact that are using a MAM means that you already are identifying media by how you are tagging it and discovering it with the MAM, not how you files are named for the files system and structure.

Cantemo as a DB will allow you to tag and discover media however you want reagrdless of the file name.

the secret sauce is thinking about cantemo not about the file system.

Having the same issue. In FCP log and transfer I could add custom fields to name my clip, like “Reel_Filename_ABCDE” All the clips would come into FCP with this very identifiable naming structure. I guess it was able to do that because it re-wrapped the file into a new QT movie. Prelude isn’t making a new movie.
    Disappointingly sad, but true.
