Thank you. I see a lot of issues with Premiere listed on Neat’s website. How much is this a factor in everyday use? https://www.neatvideo.com/support/known-issues/premiere-sr

December 30, 2019 at 8:38 pm in reply to: Can you replace a Motion Graphics Template and have all the graphics made with the old one update?Answered my own question.
YES.
As of Pr 12.1 / Ae 15.1 Ae mogrts that have been used in a Pr sequence can be replaced with a new version of the template by alt/opt dragging an updated version onto an existing aegraphic in your sequence. You can choose to have the template updated everywhere it was used in the project or restrict the change to that one instance. Where possible, Premiere Pro preserves your customizations.

SOLVED (I think)
I made another recording with the FiLMiC Pro app. I turned off the “Enable Time Code Track” feature under the app’s CMS menu setting. The resultant movie (while still grayed out in the Finder list view) DID import into Premiere with no problem. It also opened with QT Player 7, MPEG Streamclip and of course QT Player X.
Seems there’s some sort of interoperability bug in that feature.
thanks for your help. -
Not sure. What OS and Premiere version?
Can Premiere export anything, such as a different one-clip timeline in a different project?
If not, then perhaps it’s not a sequence/project/media issue. If it can, then perhaps it is. Did you try the following?
1. Create a new sequence. Copy the clips from old sequence into new.. Delete half the clips until you have successfully exported. (Corrupt media file finding routine)
2. Start a new project. Import that old project into your new. Create a new blank sequence. Copy the clips from old sequence and paste into new. (Corrupt project/sequence fix)

Thank you for that Handbrake suggestion.
I realized that I’ve overlooked one important detail. The movies were recorded on the iPad NOT using the Camera app, but using FiLMiC Pro app recording in their Extreme setting.
I’ve stumbled upon a workaround however.
1. Open the movie in QT Player X.
2. Choose File>Duplicate
3. After it has run that process (the app will change the name of the window by appending the word “copy”), choose File>Save and navigate to a destination and save.
4. Import that new duplicate file into Premiere Pro.
*Note this is not the same as duplicating the file in the Finder.I’m continuing to troubleshoot the FiLMic Pro workflow and will post back with news.

QT Player X will convert but only to a quarter of the frame size and a tenth of the file size (not my aim).

Your sequence settings should be the size of your final master movie. If you don’t know it, make an informed estimate.
(FWIW: Last proxy workflow project I had 4K source, but was finishing in 1080, so I made my proxies 1080 ProResLT and my sequence 1080, but that might have been overkill on the proxies as far as size.) -

October 3, 2017 at 11:19 am in reply to: iPad movie plays in QT Player but won’t importOnly a couple of movies remain on the iPad with which to try that. New to the iPad, I don’t understand how to “copy/paste with iTunes directly”.
I imported two movies from iPad into Photos library but
– QT Player 7 said it contained invalid data and would not play it, while
– MPEG Streamclip simply froze, and
– QT Player X played it just fine.MPEG Streamclip and QT Player 7 produced same results as Premiere Pro with the other movies on the MacPro’s media drive. They’ll open and play the smaller movies but not the bigger ones.
BTW, re memory issue: How would PPro run out of memory (without an error message to that effect) on a paltry 10GB file while QT Player X doesn’t?
Any other ideas how to make the movie file so the other apps can play it?

The movie file is on a Mac OS extended external RAID, not FAT32.
