Premiere Pro CC hangs on creating new project, won’t quit. WONKY with new MacPro
Can anyone explain this WONKY behavior on a new MacPro (May, 2014) running 10.9.4 and Premiere Pro CC 7.2.2 (33)?
PProCC started acting strangely this a.m., forgetting shortcuts, adjusting clip audio levels when hitting spacebar (to play), etc.
Quit PProCC fails.
Force quit.
Trashed Adobe Premiere preferences.
Repaired permissions.
Shut down.Start up.
Wouldn’t open previous project, just 5% through “Open Project” window, then spinning rainbow.
Forced quit.
PProCC disappears from active applications when Command+Tabbing through them, but it’s application windows persist on screen.
Have to launch Activity Monitor and Force Quit it there as well. Then PProCC’s windows disappear.
Trash PProCC preferences.
Shut down.Disconnect all peripherals.
Start up.
Launch PProCC and select Create New Project at splash screen.
Opens windows, but then spinning rainbow before I can click anything.
Force Quit fails. Activity Monitor Force Quit shuts it down.
Trash PProCC preferences.
Shut down.Connect RAID (Promise Pegasus R6 TB1)
Start up.
Create new user.
Start PProCC
Select Create New Project at splash screen.
Select location, spinning rainbow.
Won’t quit.
Force Quit window up, but entire computer frozen.
Hard shut down.Disconnect RAID
Start up.
Log in to newly created user
Launch PProCC and create new project. Rainbow spins for a several seconds then stops.
Open tiny known working project with three clips in it.
Works.
Open project that started all this mess.
Works, but no media in it (RAID disconnected)
Quit PProCC
Attach RAID
Launch PProCC
Open original project and all looks fine.
Log out newly created user.
Log in original user.
Launch PProCC and open original Project again
Works. No rainbows. Finish editing project with no hiccups so far. In fact, I have Playback now on my monitors (via PProCC Preferences) wherein I had never had it prior (4 months)So what happened?
Is this a CC, Mavericks or MacPro problem?
Why doesn’t Premiere quit, and even after Force Quit its windows don’t disappear?Waste of over an hour.

CUDA was not installed, but I’m on a Mac AMD GPU, so I think that is how it should be according to that article.
Permissions were not set correctly according to that other article.
I’ll post back if that cures my woes.

Four weeks later and I have just experienced that super wonky behavior again.
It started by exporting the timeline with flashes to black instead of fade ups. Then after trashing preferences, doing the Adobe prefs and Adobe document folders user permissions trick, I could not open the application. Then it hung the entire computer. Reboot. Re-trash prefs and reset permissions. Then it opens the project, but no media, no sequences, no clips. Try and open local project that doesn’t depend on RAID, but internal media instead. No go. Try to shutdown. Premiere won’t force quit. Windows won’t go away. Have to hard crash the computer. Reboot. Re-trash Re-permissions– The 3 Rs of Adobe CC. I can now get it to open new project with all media on internal hard drive. Works. Open another project like it and it works. Progress. Cleaned media cache database. Open another project with all media on RAID and it works. Open original project that had nothing a few minutes ago and now it works. Only wasted 55 minutes on this today. What gives?Even when it is working, the most noticeable glitch is when I have a clip in the timeline that’s been replaced with an After Effects Composition. It seems to work for awhile (hours), then the timeline freezes. I glide up and down the timeline, but the picture never changes. If I render that clip in AE and use it to replace the sent clip in the timeline, then the timeline behaves/plays normally. This is about the 3rd or 4th project on at least three machines that I’ve experienced this “Replace with AE composition” freezing.
Why doesn’t that feature work reliably? (perhaps this is another post?)
