Create them in illustrator and place in photoshop. I

I was able to see the file when I placed. In alot of cases I’ll work on these files for hours. Even render a quicktime movie and the AI files are just fine. Then suddenly, I can see them. If I open them from AE, they open up in Illustrator just fine. I’ve even tried to replace the file with itself, no luck. Sometimes if I restart the program, they’ll show up. If they do, they end up disappearing soon after.

A couple of things to try. Convert your image to RGB and applie just enough guassian blur to each channel to remove the noise. After you’ve blurred each channel, then run an Unsharp mask over the image. Another filter to try is despeckle under noise. Try that on each individual channel and then an unsharp mask.
This will only work depending on the size and quality of the image. If you have trouble, you may want to rescan the image at a larger size and resoulution, then res down afterward.

Your outline is still raster info. To make it vector you’re going to have to re-draw it using the pen tool. Be sure to create a new path in the paths menu. Then go under the file pulldown to export>Adobe Illustrator.

Under the window pull down>Actions
Create a folder, then start recording. Every action you take will be recorded. Then under file>automate> batch. You can select the script you created to apply to a large number of images

When writing your script, use image size to change the size. you can change size by inches, percentage or pixels.
The change in size will be written into the script and will be applied to all images you batch with this script

Sorry, don’t know of any plug-ins. I think if you’d keep a half tone as vector, you’d probably make the file to complicated to print.
Might want to rethink the raster issue.

I Think like anything in this field, it’s what works best for you. I personally, sketch out my storyboards (very rough)scribble a bunch of notes and refine it until I feel comfortable with the vision. Then move to the computer, knowing that things are going to change once I start working on the final.
My suggestion, watch what others are doing, see how they connect the dots from working with transisions, how one shot works with the next, the thread of the narrative.

72 dpi is what you want. If your going to enlarge the image in AE or FCP, just make it larger.
