Illustrator Files Disappear
Hello:
I’ve been having a problem with my illustrator files in AE. They disappear. The file remains in the project window as well as the layer with all it’s attributes, but, you just can’t see the art. I’m working in AE 6.5 professional and Illustrator 7.0 on OSX 10.3.8
Any suggestions?

Can you see it when you click on it in the project window?
Is it black, and so is your background color?
Can you see it in the comp window when the background color is different?
Did you ever see the files in AE?
Can you drag the AI file into a new comp and see it?Steve

I was able to see the file when I placed. In alot of cases I’ll work on these files for hours. Even render a quicktime movie and the AI files are just fine. Then suddenly, I can see them. If I open them from AE, they open up in Illustrator just fine. I’ve even tried to replace the file with itself, no luck. Sometimes if I restart the program, they’ll show up. If they do, they end up disappearing soon after.

Ouch. Do you purge image caches regularly? Sorry, other than that, I have no suggestion, except possibly to upgrade AE to 6.5.1.

PROBLEM SOLVED!
At least for me…. give this a try, download the 6.5.1 update off the Adobe site. Clear sailing!
