I was wondering…When I create a PSD file to use in my after effects or final cut pro project, does it matter what dpi i use? I have been using a 72 dpi, but should I be using something higher? Or does it not matter?

72 dpi is what you want. If your going to enlarge the image in AE or FCP, just make it larger.

The only time DPI is relevant between PS and AE is if you are cutting and pasting mask shapes between the two, in which case 72dpi is the one to use. Otherwise, DPI is completely irrelevant to video. There are no inches in the video world.
