So I’m NOT crazy? Hope there is a fix out there…

  • If the camera was completely locked off, you might be able to do difference matte and blur the background layer… The same locked off shot of the set WITHOUT the subject would be an ideal way to do this.

So, can you now smooth basic motion “center” keyframes? That would be worth the price of admission.

Thanks Chris. Interesting reading. Completely missed that thread. So what is the current workaround? I just updated to Leopard and it made no difference.

Same trouble here. It was fine a week ago, then I upgraded to QT 7.5 and it was broken. However, a neighboring system is nearly indentical to mine and it does not have this issue.

Yep. Same here, retired the Apple Bluetooth optical for a regular mouse. I do have a Bluetooth keyboard which works fine. Power Mac 8 core, 6GB Ram.

I have experienced this when using a shutter while shooting under flourescents. The frequency of the shutter oscilates and the camera WB drifts. Next time, turn off the shutter or the flourescents.

Sorry to have gotten off the topic of this thread here. Unlike Walter, we are not yet delivering HD spots to stations. But like many, we are trying to hit a moving target for the future. Our small markets (midwest markets from 40 ADI to 120 ADI) are not asking for HD today. However, we are producing and archiving everything in HD (some local spots may run for 1-2 years). Almost everything we send out is still on Beta SP (usually letterboxed). We have delivered beautiful looking 40Mb H.264 SD files to ftp sites for distant stations and national cable networks and have had no complaints. 40Mb?… surprises me too. This is what will make stations adopt ftp as a delivery method. We want to own (and do) the AJ1400 HD deck because we make a living with it. A small TV station makes a living from airing TV spots, and if they can get them delivered without buying hardware, they will.

Maybe ( sort of getting back on topic here) BD will end up being a band-aid solution for these TV stations.

    Bill,

Try changing your sequence RT settings. Most machines can play P2 back with the TC filter in real time. Quality might take a hit, but it should not matter for your purposes. We use a different approach.

Our process involves dumping all P2 to our AJ1400 HD deck from a long sequence (real time/no rendering/full quality), and simultaneously recording the deck’s TC window to the DVD recorder. This solves the P2 archiving problem, and once the HD tape is captured and the program is cut together, we just dump the P2 clips.

    Walter,

I disagree about the future of HD tape format TV spot delivery. I think the reality in small markets will be ftp. – H.264 or some similar compressed, but robust file format. TV stations do NOT have real maintenance engineers any more. In fact, they are right now accepting DVD masters of spots at some stations in the midwest. So given the choice between a $100 “disposable” DVD player that can be hooked up by an intern, or a $20k (or more) HD deck that will someday require an engineer to maintain, you can guess why this was the outcome. They ALL have Digital File Server spot playback systems, and accepting ftp delivery should end up being easy enough for them… and they save the $200 on the BluRay DVD machine 😉
