February 16, 2008 at 2:46 pmIt was announced yesterday that Wal-Mart would only carry Blu-ray in a few months. As much as I don’t like Wal-Mart, when the largest retailer in the world chooses one format over the other, that’s a very large blow.

February 16, 2008 at 2:54 pmI’ll tell you what blows, is that 2 months ago I dropped 400 bucks on a Toshiba A30, that’s what blows!
Great machine tho. Maybe someday it’ll be a collector’s item!
Have a wonderful day.

February 16, 2008 at 3:35 pmThat’s likely to happen anytime you buy the bleeding edge of tech… but that said, I’m really glad Blu-Ray is going to win this… it’s a far superior format, and has a future upgrade path that HD DVD’s just don’t.

February 16, 2008 at 3:45 pmAgreed Jerry. Maybe this will be the red hot poker that motivates Apple to introduce – at the very least basic – Blu-ray authoring in DVDSP!

Sorry about that, but I’m just happy my $4,500 investment in BluRay authoring is going to still be worth something tomorrow! 🙂

February 16, 2008 at 5:50 pmThe email I got from Netflix saying they were dumping HDDVD pretty much sealed it for me.
I have to look around at BluRay players now. Anybody have a recommendation on something that’s not $999?
