Thanks Brian. I ended up using a Constraint tag and pinning it to the same head joint you had mentioned.

Yep, it was duplicate geometry. I don’t understand why it was flickering but i’m guessing it has to do with the phong and geometry that was close to each other.

Upping the phong didn’t resolve it.

The face/skin plane went all the way up inside the hair. Even though it never protruded through the hair somehow the phong flickered. Erasing the face/skin above the hair line resolved everything.

    Thanks for the insight!

Any luck figuring this out? I need to bake specular into a logo for animation purposes.

Hope you can shed some light on this
    thanks 🙂

  • My mistake, i thought i provided the link last post.

  • Hi Brian,

It’s something to do with one light having a “physically accurate fall off”. In the image below i’ve notated which that is. “Camera MAINFINAL” is the angle of interest. I’ve simplified the scene by removing what i can for a variety of reasons.

Notice frames around 210 create the hard shadow but returns to normal shortly after. Any ideas why?

    Thanks!

This is great Brian, thanks a lot. The parenting of each level makes a lot of sense…should have thought of that.

Now that i’ve done that and have attached to a splinewrap, the accordion undesirably fluctuates from the spline as it unfolds.

Do you have any suggestions on how to seat it against the spline so it is stabilized?

    Thanks again 🙂

Sorry for the slow response, but thanks Adam for taking a look at it! I will open up your project file this week and hopefully it will shed some light on things.

Look forward to seeing what you’ve done.
    Thanks again.

Thanks adam. Yah, i agree. I was hoping there may be an easier more global solution.

Agree about the UVW…tho like the frontal projection since all the brush strokes remain the same size from the front of scene to the back (same as a real world brush would be on a canvas).

I’m was hoping if the brush strokes were changing to appear like different seed values that it might be a bit more of a sell on the frontal projection. Thoughts?

    Thanks again.
