I have the same problems as you with the new build. After a fresh install of vegas and build 486 I get instant freeze when the thumbnails are trying to display. I then tried a new project and imported one .mxf sony xdcam clip and instant freeze. If I import a avchd clip…no problem. If you want to see the .mxf clip in 12, you can do it from the explorer tab, but if you use the project tab it will freeze.
I have been on both forums stating this problem and all I get is ” reinstall windows and reinstall vegas ”
So it’s back to version 11 to get my work done.
I have been a user since ver 3 and have NEVER been so frustrated with vegas.

latest test….opened Vegas12 and i cannot load 1 .mxf clip without freezing. i can load .mts just fine this is after another reinstall of vegas and video driver invidea 310.90

Funny how sony cant handle its own codec

  • I feel your pain, and im in the same boat. Its funny how all our other programs work including older versions of vegas and all we hear is re- install. Vegas 12 is just not ready to put in front of a client.

I have sent in dozens of crash reports about this , even with the latest build, Sony vegas 12 is just broke. I have done everything except a new windows install. even with the problems that 11 had its much more stable than 12.

Wish list for Vegas 13…NO MORE ADD ONS…just fix what is broke!

I am going to go back to 11 on any new projects …12 is just broke….way too many problems.
Every day it gets worse…now I can’t look at any of my bins in my project- it will crash every time, but if I look at the clips in the explorer tab in vegas it is fine. Go figure.
I’m not going to listen to the robot message from sony ” re install windows”
Vegas 12 is the only software I have these problems with. I have it on 4 systems and all have problems.
Just remember what sony did with bluray….maybe vegas will go the same way….nowhere

Steve,i am thinking of using prodad heroglyph like you. did you uninstall the newblue titler?

I think that Sony should rethink bundling newblue with their product.
I have made the last Three updates to newblue titler and it still will crash every time i use it.

I’ve been using vegas since version 3 …all my hardware is fine and work flawlessly in older versions of vegas and cs6. Before I every try a fresh windows install, I am going to build a new computer with nothing else installed..
Other people in the forum have done this and version 12 still crashes. I have multiple vegas systems that all have the same problems….I don’t think a fresh install of windows will do much. I just wonder if sony even looks at the reports we send in?

I have my drives configured like you stated and I still crash a lot. Newblue titler makes my system crash the most, and I have the latest build. I would think it was the culprit, bit I will even crash when I walk away and come back an hr later. I crash for various reasons, but newblue titler will make me crash fast.
