You are not alone…vegas 12 is far from stable. I have all the same problems that you have. No reason why it crashes so much. Yes, I have all the latest drivers and revs. I love vegas when it works. But the progress from version to version is getting worse….more new features and never fix the old problems that have been there for several versions. With 12 I crash 20 times a day, and yes I send in the reports. Just like fcx help sell more avid and premier, vegas looks like it may doing the same thing.
I had to return to an older edit yesterday and in v11 – I went all day without a crash. Go figure.

Your post worries me a little because I am about to build a new computer with fresh 12 install. I usually get a new computer when the last one has 3 versions of vegas. (4,5,6) (7,8,9) (10, 11,12)

I have all the same problems you are having. I loaded the new build yesterday and just to confuse me more I tried rendering to main concept and still crashed, but when I turned on Cuba it rendered – just the opposite of what you would think.

I mean v11 had a better preview rate and rendered faster.
I have a rock solid preview in cs6 with same matterial.

I loaded the new build and I still freeze on main concept renders. Maybe they will fix this by ver 13, 14, 15…
Preview is still bad, still buggy, and I’m sure glad sony spent time fixing export to Final cut – I guess that codecs that don’t render, bad preview etc will have to go on the back burner.

    this could be some insight…
I was invited to be a beta tester for 12 and 2 days after i downloaded it to try out – the product was released. So much for testing.

This problem is happening to many people.
i have had many problems with 12 crashing.I have sent in over 20 crash reports to sony. I crash a lot when using main concept and if i reboot i usually can get through it. The sony avc codec works when main concept wont.I also get from time to time crashes on preview and can only get through it when i preview at half res.
It is interesting that i never had crashing problems with vegas until sony bought them. Sure is fun watching vegas crash in front of clients.
Sony please dont give us any more extras until we have a stable version and a solid preview.

I have lost a lot of time with this main concept problem….have switched to the Sony avc codec.
Turning off the gpu does not help, and forget 2 pass renders…it just won’t happen.
Vegas 11 works fine, but I have a month of work in 12 and can’t go back now.
I have also the latest drivers and updates which doesn’t help main concept or the always crashing new blue titler.
I have sent in at least 20 crash reports to Sony in the last 2 weeks. My client sure wonders why i still edit on Sony Vegas…..sometimes I wonder why myself.
