I found Jon’s blog with the same info. It’s not the smoothest option (no fault of Jon’s – this is something Premiere should let editors do) but it does the trick.

    Here’s the link: https://ukjoncollins.com/video-editor-blog/post/how-to-run-a-second-instance-of-premiere-pro

A very helpful thread, as I am in the same boat right now. I know it’s been a couple years, but I’m curious, raf, what did you end up doing, and how did it work out for your project?!

    Thanks! That worked!

I also noticed my sequence presets in A/V Settings were set for 1440×1080, so I changed it to 1920×1080, ProRes422(LT).

    Running smooth again.

Figured it out! I went into System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts and then clicked on Application Shortcuts in the left screen. I had to add a brand new shortcut command for the Calculator App. Click + and it brings up a new screen, there’s an application pulldown menu, select Calculator and give it a new keyboard shortcut. That overrides the previous shortcut, and you’re good to go… at least I was. Whew!

And while I’m on the subject of removing things from my timeline… can I delete more than 1 audio/video track at a time? Doing each individual track is a little annoying.

    I FIGURED IT OUT!!!

Thanks to Compressor Repair from Digital Rebellion. Wow! I sound like an ad. It found the simple issue, for some reason Compressor couldn’t see my computer name. I had to “name the computer” so Compressor could … I don’t know, but there was nothing in the CLUSTER pull-down before you submit a job. After you name the computer in System Preferences it has something to put in the CLUSTER pull down. I hope this helps someone else.

I’d love to use what I have. The problem is I cannot. I have FC Studio 2. Final Cut Pro 6.0.6 and Compressor 3.0.5.

Last week when I set out to export using Compressor I had a screen saying, “Please restart your computer or verify your Compressor installation is correct.”

I called Apple, they offer no support, not even the $99 support on this version. I received an Apple webpage showing me how to uninstall and reinstall Compressor, which I did, to no avail. Same problem. This is why I wanted to know if Compressor 4 would accept a FCP6 export (the answer — NO). So now I don’t know what to do.

I don’t want to go to X. Any suggestions on fixing my Compressor issue?

These are all very helpful postings! Thanks. Steve, I’m also finding it hard to locate the memory & cache settings. Is it in System Preferences?

That’s what I thought, but it was worth asking. Is there a “comment card” type site for suggestions for the next round of FCP? That would be a good one! Thanks for the response!
