Clip Collision
Hi,
I was hoping someone might have a solution to this issue. When I am editing and I want to move a video clip from V1 to V2, I hit option + “up arrow”. If I slide that clip, say 12 frames, and that clip on V2 is on top of another clip on V1, I cannot option + “down arrow” my V2 clip down to V1. I get the Clip Collison warning. Is there some secret key command that I don’t know about? I’d like to know if there’s a way to do this without using the mouse.
Also, for bonus points, c an FCP print markers in any easy to read format, aka not XML?

Clip collision cannot be avoided with a key command. It annoys me no end too.

That’s what I thought, but it was worth asking. Is there a “comment card” type site for suggestions for the next round of FCP? That would be a good one! Thanks for the response!

as shane said, you cant force a clip to move down over the top of another clip with a keyboard command 🙁
i wish you could.HOWEVER,
in the situation you described, you could have simply moved it across.
(with out first moving it up to another track)this is SLIDING.
select the clip,
pick up the side tool (Sits alongside the slip tool into the tool palette) or hit ss to summon it.
type in a value (+/-12 i your case) and the clip will slide over the top of the surrounding clips.nick
