You can easily try text animators and presets. They can seem intimidating at first but using AE’s built-in stuff can be a really good place to start.

For starters, I would try making a displacement map with the original face. Then I’d add a light and mess with the material options of the layer.
Seems to me there will be several ways to acheive what you want to do. -
If the effect just needs to be really subtle you can use liquefy to just barely twist leaves around. Also, bulge can work if used sparingly for leaves that may be moving towards the camera. The tools are in Effect/Distort. Set keyframes with easy ease.
Sounds like a fun experiment!

Mocha is a great way to do tracking for AE. If you don’t have it however, a solution could be as simple as getting your text layer to the coordinates (x,y,z) of the screen layer. (Make them 3D). Once everything looks how you want it to end up, parent the text layer to the screen layer with the pick whip. Scrub back to the start and the layer should stay in place. A more complicated camera move would require more work. Also check out Mathias Mohl’s videos and plugins @

Try right clicking on the trouble keyframes and select “Keyframe Interpolation”.
Change “Temporal” and “Spatial” Interpolation to “Linear”.If you have rogue movement that can correct it.

So it sounds like you have two issues: the right key and also creating a 3D image. The image in your video is done with 3D software. The best way to fake it in AE is to have photos of each side and put all 6 sides together in 3D space to make a box. Then it can be animated as a whole.

Hmm…from the screenshot I can’t see any problem. Are you running CS5? The video copilot forums has other people with what sounds like the same problem using CS5.

To do a product spinning in AE, you’d need many still shots of something spinning to stitch together. I’ve hung objects from fishing line and keyed them. Still, it will never be 3D in AE. From straight on it will just look that way. I’d recommend some basic training for AE which you can find here:
