Is the little ‘fx’ on/off toggle box showing up by the words ‘Optical Flares’ in the Effects Panel?

  • You can set the size of the pre-comp to be the exact height and width of your text. Also, not sure if this is your issue, but you can tick the ‘Collapse Transformation’ if vector quality is a problem.

Drop all your common effects/presets (copy them, don’t just move them) into a folder and put it in the preset or plugin folder for AE. The location should be similar to:

    C:/Program Files/Adobe/After Effects/Support Files/Presets

Search the Plugin and Preset folders, as well as the Cycore folder, for stock effects.

That scene is most likely a composite. You can find some great compositing elements in the Action Essentials 2 kit from videocopilot. There is a tutorial in the package called ‘Street Bomb’ that is right up that alley. (No I don’t work for Andrew, I just own the stuff – It’s great!)

I’ve done that with Adobe Media Encoder. From there you can convert to MPEG, Quicktime, FLV, etc.
.MTS does look good imported into AE tho.

Create a text layer and hold down ‘ALT’ while you type in succession

    0241

Depending on your font, it should be a lowercase ñ
    Uppercase is ALT + 0209

AE has a lot of built-in text animation presets to get you started. At the top of the AE interface, click ‘Animation’ and then ‘Browse Presets’. Adobe Bridge will open (if you have it installed). In Bridge, search for ‘Text’ and click it. As you dive into the presets, they will sample in the preview panel. Drag into AE any preset that you like.

Also, to explore further, check out John Dickenson’s 2 videos on Text animation at his site.

Have fun! The possibilities are huge!

Check out this tutorial on AEtuts.

You might be able to take some elements out of that. (It’s a long 3 part, but lots of info)
