the morph here isn’t something I would have attempted to do personally. I think you would have been better off just doing a simple y rotation, where the first logo transitions to the second when both are about 90 degrees, or invisible to the viewer, and then it resolves. Like this here – https://www.dropbox.com/s/1okuk04zsk44881/Comp%201.mp4

I’ll tell you what everyone else is thinking – it’s hard to tell without seeing the project files side by side. I know, NDAs, privacy, etc, but maybe you could outline the exact project settings for both files in as much detail as you can.

Or use C4D spline wrap 😉 I know, not AE, but some things aren’t always an AE job.

  • What’s the FPS on the video footage? If it’s something like 60 then you should make sure the frame rate of the comp is set to that so when you time stretch it you don’t any strobing.

This might get you there. Try adding an adjustment layer over the dots. Use a fast blur with a simple choker. Set the choker so the ball size is mostly the size you want. What happens is the balls will “stick” together when they get close. You could then do something creative to fade that into the logo.

If you have cs6 or CC, there’s a plugin called warpomatic that might help.

  • I’m not sure about puppet tuts, but this script ought to save your life some time. https://aescripts.com/puppettools/ Go check this guy’s vimeo page out too, he’s got some wicked cool animation. https://vimeo.com/ggunn

  • Welcome to the world of Puppet Pinning 🙂 Get used to meshes doing weird things unexpectedly, especially if you’ve got everything set up like you want it and hit the 3D switch, or collapse transformations switch. You’ll figure it out I’m sure.

  • Is it a layered comp by any chance? If it is, and you added a new layer to your PSD with the new artwork, it won’t show up. Only existing layers in the layered comp will update.

only instead of auto-trace, which doesn’t always give you the best results, I’d just convert the vector layer to a shape layer and then follow Mathew’s instructions animating backwards. Have you messed around with Warpomatic? It’s new with CS6 I think.
