Go to Sequence -> settings. The compressor used is down on the bottom left.

I found a good one to use that is pretty common is DVCPro HD…that codec kept a lot of things in real time…and the pictures could stand a lot of scaling with a small amount of loss.

I’m intrigued by your post. I couldn’t get this to work…AME still won’t interpret my footage (NTSC D1 – 720×486 – PAR of .9) correctly.

Problem is it is AVID Same as Source from and old Meridien system which apparently doesn’t flag the .mov clips. Because there’s no metadata that AME is picking up on.

Any other possibilities?

BTW, – *AME won’t stretch footage*, REALLY? That seems like a HUGE thing left out of the software. Puts it out of the park for what I’d use @ work to transcode…Episode Pro absolutely puts it to shame.

Wasn’t sure if it could…obviously the creativity would be slightly different, but the editors are so close in their style, it could work.

I was just trying to see if anyone was doing it. I’m new to FCP and it has so many capabilities that surpass what we could to on AVID and I wanted to see if there were workflow capabilities that could help us.

I’ll reserve the 2 editor setup for longer form pieces broken up into *acts*.

I know this thread is old…but any idea as to why this doesn’t work for me sometimes in CS3…every once in a while it won’t work…I purge in AFX…clear clipboard data in XP. Still nothing.

The only way to fix it is to close AFX, reopen and then it works. It’s really annoying…anyone else have that problem?

you’ve answered a question of mine before…thanks again! You are a freakin’ genius!!

I completely forgot about the looping number in intrepret footage dialogue…

I don’t need to truncate any frames…my designer ended the design with the intention to loop with the next being frame 1. But I like the expression idea, I’ve used the looping expression before, but I’m not very good with expressions.

I’m sorry Dan, it did work. I was trying to go into the text and delete the text information…not delete the name information.

Hey Dave,

I didn’t see where this link had any information about what I was asking. Dan’s suggestion didn’t work for me in CS3.

Additionally, I like having the manual online…but I’ve used CS4 at a friend’s shop, and I don’t like HAVING to go online to get to the manual. Is there an option to have it on your machine locally as well?

I’m in CS3 and this didn’t work. Still retains the name I typed in. Any idea why?

Something I do quite often…is park my indicator where I want to watch and then double click the keyframe I want to edit…it opens with a dialogue window that allows you to enter data. Only issue is it isn’t dynamic, so you can’t use a *slider* like you can if you are dragging the value in your timeline and see the results live.
