Tried the multiplication of .01 and the division by a small number.

Didn’t react the way I wanted it to. Basically, it just made the value a division of .1 but scaled by the same amount.

I’ll try Ben’s solution.

I have illustrators providing me HUGE dimension files…so I’ll keep it in mind to resize to a manageable size. (Sounds like a job for a Photoshop action!)

I agree that it needs updated (what’s the deal with markers being a twirl down on the clip?? 🙂

Adobe Media Encoder is really crappy (IMHO)…Sorenson Squeeze offers a FTP function, and it can do a watch folder. So basically, render your project to a folder. Have Sorenson watch that folder with an output module. Once render is finished…it will transcode and upload. I’ve used that workflow for years and it’s very solid.

To preview audio in AFX…press the . that’s the period key on your numberpad.

Also…I’ve found helpful for indicating beats in AFX…with the layer selected, do a RAM preview and press the * that is the asterisk key on your numberpad and it will lay down layer markers as you roll through it. (They don’t show up until you stop playback)

So if I’m doing a piece with a lot of large movements through large sized images (no video to determine codec)…then what timeline codec is the most efficient for doing this?

Obviously animation would give me lossless quality images…but the file sizes would be crazy…is DVCProHD an option? I also have the microcosm codec on my machine from Red Giant…

What is everyone else doing with large sized images?

I’m not using an external monitor…I know I should be. But I’ve experienced the same thing on a setup with a KonaLHe card.

Since we’ve gotten on the subject. What is a very simple external monitoring setup? Is KonaLHe an easy solution? There may be times where I want to dub from the timeline directly to a DVD recorder (NTSC-SD)

I’m sure it’s been covered over and over…I’ll check the forum as well.

Jeremy…good link, I’ll try it out. Did some reading on it and it sounds useful!

One big complaint I have is that the information you type into a marker can’t be seen anywhere unless you go into the marker dialog box. UNLESS you have a clip marker…that information shows up as an overlay lower 3rd in the viewer…isn’t that strange? Information typed into the marker shows up on the source viewer…but not the sequence side? It’s very strange and doesn’t make sense as to why they wouldn’t do the same with sequence markers.

How do I control how it affects the sequence it’s nested in?

For example…if I trim the outpoint of the last clip in a PSD sequence…it pulls the video back in my main sequence, kicking my audio of out of alignment. Does that make sense?

I’m an AVID editor learning FCP and it really is different!
