Layer name – revert to text contents
Hey Guys,
When I revise a text layer (change the characters of the text)…the layer’s name updates to reflect the changes
However, if I press *return* … and manually change the name of that layer…it always retains that name. Is there a way to revert it back to change the name based on the contents of the text?

Just change the name to an empty string (backspace should do it) and it will again use the actual text as the name.

I’m in CS3 and this didn’t work. Still retains the name I typed in. Any idea why?

Hey Dave,
I didn’t see where this link had any information about what I was asking. Dan’s suggestion didn’t work for me in CS3.
Additionally, I like having the manual online…but I’ve used CS4 at a friend’s shop, and I don’t like HAVING to go online to get to the manual. Is there an option to have it on your machine locally as well?

I just tried it on CS3. Select layer, hit Enter, hit Backspace, Hit Enter. That doesn’t work for you?

I’m sorry Dan, it did work. I was trying to go into the text and delete the text information…not delete the name information.
