For now it sounds like an AJA Io would fit your needs, but it only supports SD, but all of the connections that you need. Obviously HDV can be handled through firewire with this option. The other option is the AJA Kona LH, which will get you HD and SD on one card with analog capabilities. This is especially nice for HDV, so you don’t have to working in the horrible HDV codec, and can capture to something more reasonable like DVDCPROHD (or even uncompressed). This way you are ready for HD, just in case.
If I were you I would go to http://www.aja.com and look at there Mac capture cards and the Io and see which seams to meet you needs the best. I think all of their prices are more than reasonable, but it is the storage that always ends up costing so much. But I can tell you first hand that you will be very happy with an AJA product.

Okay, I think I found the solution without having to call Apple. I have not been able to test this to see if it works yet, but it make complete sense.
change the admin setting (version 1.5):
go to the tab Performance and
check use controller Write Cache
uncheck Allow Host Cache Flushing (that was the problem)
check Use Drive Write Cache
uncheck Use Steady Streaming Mode
Read Prefetch :
check 128 Stripes (8Mb/disk)
If you have an UPS It will really help in case of a power shortage.

Having same issues here with Xserve RAID. Everything is up to date. I will be on the phone with Apple this afternoon and see if I can solve the problem. The workaround for now is to capture to the internal drive. I was able to capture 18min on 10bit UC no problem. I have posted about this a few weeks ago, but with no real feedback. I am finding that I am not alone, and will provide any feedback with any solutions ASAP. Good luck.

There are some issues with FCP and artifacts in 10bit. Is that what your project is setup in?? There are a few discussions about that in this forum. Hopefully that should give you the answers that you need. Good luck!!

Are you using the same monitor on both systems?

I just rented the 93 deck two weeks ago. I was unable to get RS-422 control with my Kona 2 card. I just used firewire and that was that, other than an hour wasted thing to get the darn thing to work. I noticed that the 422 control was an option on the deck, so when I returned it to the shop I asked it they had that option installed. Well to make a long story short, they had no idea. However, they had every other option on that deck so I don’t know why they would not have the control. So I know that this does not answer your question, but I thought it might be interesting to you. And if you figure out a good setup for control with the 93, please let us know for future reference.

Thanks for the input but that does not work. When I do that it just keeps trying to capture the same clip over and over and over. I let it go for an hour and it still had not captured anything.
And and update, reinstalled FCP back to 5.0 on another system and the problem is still there. So now I have now idea what the issue is. I am starting to think that it might me stemming for the Xserve RAID.

I have experienced this problem as well. To keep footage in 10 bit, I have only found one solution to make it go away. Change the motion setting in the Sequence Setting, Video processing tab to fastest (linear). This seams to resolve the problem.
