    Hi

I am having a problem with one of our two Kona LH cards. When we set the control panel to downconvert and letterbox to NTSC output, the letterbox is not centered but positioned a bit lower than center. About 5-10 pixels below center.

This problem persists no matter what we’ve tried. Source does not matter, bars, FCPro, Mac desktop ect. It’s there with a direct component connection to our monitors. We are not using the SDI outputs so I can’t check that. It’s not affected by genlock or source. The position of the letterbox doesn’t change. Reinstalling drivers doesn’t change it either.

Our 2nd system does not have this problem. It’s dead center.

Anyone have any suggestions to try?

Are you using the same monitor on both systems?

Yes, were both using Sony L5’s, but I’ve tried connecting it to several different NTSC monitors and directly to our tape decks, it shows up the same way, black bar on top bigger than one on bottom of letterbox. I am using a Kbox. I wouldn’t think that should matter. Again everything else is fine. NTSC outputs fine and the levels look fine. It’s just the letterbox centering. wierd.

Correct me if I am wrong but is the center box setting 16×9 or can it be changed to 14×9 or 13×9 via the Kona LH?

If it can be changed verify both the LH’s are set to the same letterbox setting.

I found the answer myself without having to call Aja support!!!!

Theres a small Horizontal and Vertical timing button in the Genlock input screen of the control panel I missed. The vert timing was off resulting in the letterboxing being moved down the screen away from center.
