I finally found the preset for switching channels. As a further hint, the problem stays with the right channel. If I send the right channel signal to the left channel, I can hear it on the speakers. For those that may want to know where to find this. It is under Process Channel Converter. Look through the presets and you will find one that says “Swap Channels”.

“Just to clarify, you hear both speakers in SoundForge if you open a
file from within soundforge such as a wav file, however you have your problem when you try to send your audio from Vegas to Soundforge via the “send to Soundforge command”. Is this correct?”

Thank you for the catch. One other thing I tried, opening a DVX100a 60i avi file directly into Sound Forge that I had captured last year using Vegas as my capture program. Again, the sound shows up in the right channel on Sound Forge but can only be heard through the headphones.

One thing I have wanted to try – reverse channels in Sound Forge so the audio on the right channel is on the left channel but I can’t seem to find how to do it. I can reverse the audio but it stays on the same channel.

You are correct in that all other files open correctly in Sound Forge. I seem to be having this issue only with files I am using within Vegas and Sound Forge.

    Your thoughts?

As far as cloning, not sure if this is what you had in mind, but did you consider just flipping one copy of your video clip so in one case you appear on the right hand side of the frame and the second time you appear on the left hand side? In order to do this, go into pan/crop, right click on the picture and a dialog box will open up, hit “flip horizontal” and you are now on the opposite side of the screen.

    Hope this helps.

    Have a great day.

Also a big fan of NOD32 for virus protection – quick to install and is completely unobtrusive and it does not slow down the opening of programs like Norton. Norton has become bloatware and will not install on a machine running Zone Alarm. I run the free version of Zone Alarm and it works great. Also have Ad Aware.

    Have a great day.

    Drew –

I have the first volume of Digital Juice’s sound effects and find it to be very useful. Sound quality appears to be fine to me but I’m not an audio person. I have never heard of Sony’s entry into this area so I can’t say anything about it.

Lt us know what you decide to purchase. Have a great day.

Thank you Mike and Chris for posting your comments. So far, Sound Forge 8 works fine for me so I wondered if the changes were significant enough in Sound Forge 9 for someone like me not heavily involved in editing audio. It looks like I’ll stay with Sound Forge 8 for the time being.

Again, thank you for taking the time to post your comments.

Thank you for posting your comments. I have been trying to find information about NAB but about the most I can find is stuff related to the parties, RED, and best hotels, etc. :-}.

April 17, 2007 at 3:24 pm in reply to: How can I add a black border around video?

    Tin –

If I understand correctly, you want to insert a black border around all sides of the video. Did you consider looking in Media Generator and using the Rectangular Transparent to Black preset from the Color Gradient plugin? My thought would be to put that preset on the track above the video and adjust the size of the transparent opening and length accordingly. Viola – instant black border.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you for the suggestion. I’ll check my preferences. Knowing me, I’m sure I have it turned off.
