Cloning, Levitating, and Floating…NEED HELP!
Does anyone know how to do “cloning” on the Sony Vegas? Also the “floating” or “levitation” technique I am trying to figure out. Basically, how do I film two seperate clips and merge them together to make one scene? For instance, if I wanted to film myself playing cards with myself. Two alternate images of me in the same frame…If I can get help with this, I assume the floating/levitation technique is basically the same thing..
FYI: I have already recieved info telling me to click the “enable mask” button in the events pan/crop window, but that button isn’t there. Also, I’ve heard to use the “anchor CREATION tool”, but alas! it isn’t where they say it is!! I have emailed Sony and am waiting for response. Additionally, I have the Sony Vegas 7 Platinum (Spiderman 3 edition), I’m not sure if that matters or not.

Chroma key is the technique you’re looking for.
Do a search here as this has been discussed numerous times so you’ll find lots of suggestion. -

What you are calling “Sony Vegas 7 Platinum” is not really Vegas 7.
It is Vegas Movie Studio+DVD Platinum, a very limited version of Vegas 7 which is the Pro Version. That is why you cannot find some of the features you have been told about.Vegas Movie Studio+DVD Platinum is designed for home movie editors.
Vegas 7 is full featured for Pro Editors. -

Hi,
you can do this without croma-keying.
First film yourself on one side of the table,
let’s say you’re on the right side.
Shoot the film.
Then go to the left side, and film again.
Important: don’t change the light, don’t change
anything on the camera.
So you really need only pan/crop and 2 tracks
for merging playing card with yourself 😉By(t)e

As far as cloning, not sure if this is what you had in mind, but did you consider just flipping one copy of your video clip so in one case you appear on the right hand side of the frame and the second time you appear on the left hand side? In order to do this, go into pan/crop, right click on the picture and a dialog box will open up, hit “flip horizontal” and you are now on the opposite side of the screen.

That’s OK, if he wants to be over a compeletly mirror-symmetric
background – in addition when he(A) drops, he(B) drops too :)))If I understood everything correctly.
But if he has a normal background (like a room with a table and some furnitures) – and he(A) wants to raise pot before he(B) drops…
:))))
He has to shoot 2times.

You can do this buy using the cooking cutter in vegas, just put one video on top the other and apply the cookie cutter effect on the top track, use the square and adjust the setting sliders untill you can see both you’s in the video. To film this you need to have the first you on the right of the screen and the 2nd you on the left and you need to make sure you don’t touch each other in the video though, if you want this effect you would have to use green or blue screen for this type of effect.
