Sound Forge 9 Impressions
Posted by Janet Turner on April 22, 2007 at 4:26 pmGurus –
I thought I might see something about Sound Forge’s upgrade but since I have not, I thought I would throw out the question as to whether it is worth it to upgrade from Sound Forge 8 with Noise Reduction to Sound Forge 9?

April 23, 2007 at 5:38 amI have downloaded it and was disappointed that it hadn’t turned into a true multitrack editor. It only accepts import from a multitrack file or a multitrack control surface. Very disappointing IMHO.

Christopher, with all due respect, that’s what Vegas is for.
Even when Vegas started out, it was a multi-track audio app.
I used Sound Forge back then for sweetening of individual tracks or segments and still do it this way today.I’m very pleased with the upgrade and already have it installed on my system.

April 24, 2007 at 1:03 amThank you Mike and Chris for posting your comments. So far, Sound Forge 8 works fine for me so I wondered if the changes were significant enough in Sound Forge 9 for someone like me not heavily involved in editing audio. It looks like I’ll stay with Sound Forge 8 for the time being.
Again, thank you for taking the time to post your comments.

April 25, 2007 at 7:09 pmMy sentiments exactly. Just because Sound Forge “never did this before” is no excuse not to upgrade the program into a multitrack editor. I would love to be able to only edit audio in SF without having to go into Vegas, which I find tedious and cumbersome compared to other true audio editing apps.
