Hi Don,

I did not say call techinical support, I said to call our service department. There is a big difference. The Service department can actually order a new one for you. Technical support should have a better answer than the one they gave you but in the service department they could sell you a new cable.

By the way, since they have reopened, I took a look an the cable has a list price of just over $57.00 so the one we ordered this morning if it works will be a big bonus. For those that still want to know, the paret number is K1EY06YY0001.

The camera will not overheat on the component outputs. The camera will not through-put from HD timeline via firewire an HD signal over the component signals. The reason is that that would overheat the ASIC. But since you cannot do this, because the camera will not allow it, the camera cannot/will not overheat. So what you may have read, seems to be written as if it were something you could do, with a warning not do, but in reality, is something you cannot do at all and thus there is no need for a warning as it is just not possible.

You can play out the component analog HD signals all day from the P2 card and it will be fine.

The component analog output on the HVX can be converted to an HD-SDI with an AJA HD10A and this will give you a 4:2:2 signal at HD level to work with. And then you can capture at a full uncompressed signal. It is not able to be 4:4:4 as the color just is not here.

Call Panasonic Service on Monday, and order the part. You can find this number by going to our website, going to Support and then Service and then put in the model number and zip code and it will give you the service center to call. It is available from Panasonic only at this point in time.

Hi,

The Camera settings are 720P/24, not PN just plan 720P/24. This sends out a viable signal out of the camera that looks like a DVCPRO HD over firewire signal. Much like the VariCam signal being played back over firewire. You then need to remove the 24 frames using the sofware fram rate converter, that you can download from the Panasonic Website.

You have to set the Capture Window to 59.97 DVCPRO HD 720/60. Catpture into the bin. Remove the extra frames with the frame rate converter, save them as 24P files. Import them into a 24P footage. This is how they work it with the Varicam.

Now it may be that they have since, as I said in my last message, integrated the easiest removal (24P)into the sequence setup but I cannot be sure as I have not set up FCP to edit in a while, for using this style of capture. Perhaps you could just try it and see.

All I can say for sure is that what comes out of the camera on firewire is 59.97 with the 2:3 pulldown of the 24P and you will need to remove the extra frames in the computer after capture, but maybe during capture.

Actually, you need to capture at 59.97, and remove the flagged frames later, I believe. Apple may have integrated the auto-matice removal in FCP since the last time I did this, but the stream coming in over firewire is 59.97. If they did then on the sequence setup, it will show a check for removal of pulldown.

Open your capture window in FCP and then push the capture now button and that is all there is to it. To stop, push stop.

FCP does not capture Time Code in this mode, but it will indeed capture footage.

Hi,

Do not duplicate the folders from other P2 CONTENTS folders rather just type in the other folders, ie, create them. So as Mike pointed out what they are make new folders with nothing in them with those names, be very clear on all Caps, Mac is very fussy about such things. See if that works.

Still would be curious as to how this happened. If you ever find out, which, frankly I don’t think you will, please let us know.
