April 8, 2006 at 12:08 pmHi,
Call Panasonic Service on Monday, and order the part. You can find this number by going to our website, going to Support and then Service and then put in the model number and zip code and it will give you the service center to call. It is available from Panasonic only at this point in time.
Best,
Jan

April 10, 2006 at 4:49 amI believe this is the same thing only longer. My friend bought one and sent me this link. He hasn’t complained so I assume its the same thing.

April 10, 2006 at 5:32 pmJust got off the phone with Panasonic Tech Support as Jan had recommended and they know nothing about the cable or how to order it. They have no part number available as of yet but say they are working on it and took my contact info. Jan, if you’re listening, I’ll be watching here to see if you can come up with any info as well. I ordered one of the cables shown here earlier but the Panasonic Tech guy claims the pin out is different. Ours was destroyed by careless grip and we’re desperate to get another to see HD out on a set monitor. So far, we’ve not come up with a way to see an HD picture any larger than the capture window in FCP without the cable.
Thanks,
Don Wilson

April 10, 2006 at 6:27 pmHi Don,
I did not say call techinical support, I said to call our service department. There is a big difference. The Service department can actually order a new one for you. Technical support should have a better answer than the one they gave you but in the service department they could sell you a new cable.
By the way, since they have reopened, I took a look an the cable has a list price of just over $57.00 so the one we ordered this morning if it works will be a big bonus. For those that still want to know, the paret number is K1EY06YY0001.
Best regards,
Jan

April 10, 2006 at 10:06 pmFYI, the Panasonic cable is not unique, it’s compatible with the Canon XLH1’s component output, and it’s compatible with the JVC HD1 and HD10’s component outputs.
So the odds are very good that this cable will work. Good enough that I just ordered one today too… 🙂

April 11, 2006 at 12:09 amHi Jan,
Many thanks for that part number. I’m ordering one anyway despite the cost as I need to have a backup from now on and in case the other doesn’t work. I think I mis-spoke when I said you said to call Tech Support as now I’ve read through the posts and my email and found the reason I called them. I had send a part request form to Panasonic PBTS Parts and gotten a reply this morning:
“What you need to do is call Technical Support at 1-800-524-1448 prompt 2 and
they can help you locate the part or part numbers you are looking for then you
can check back with us on pricing and availability.”Now that I’ve re-read your post with the part number I apoloigize for mis-stating and want you to know that I and I’m sure all here really appreciate your first-hand knowledge and understanding and hope to continue to tap into your knowledge in the future. So far, we love the camera though we’re still learning, but as an editor, the P2 card and hopefully soon to be released hard drive option is a blessing. No more mis-labeled tapes or having a PA look for hours for a tape thats in the box in the first place!!
Again, many thanks.
