Actually that was exactly what I was hoping to find, something akin to being able to turn off the skimmer, not a feature I like so was relieved you can simply disable it. I think when I’m closer to refining a project and I have a lengthy timeline I will appreciate it.
Cheers for the help

Export XML seemed rather explicit. No mention of import. Some of the wording kinda, slightly, ruffled my hope with the reliance on 3rd party applications…especially the very costly ones that run over the price of the platform for one feature they said, “we know it’s important” (well, ya)…kinda gets the fires burning I’m sure in some that reacted with pause then bombast. If it was important…then, um…it makes one wonder, what editors were consulted on it’s development…
Then it comes full circle to iMovie8…I’m running out of gas on blasting this thing too, but that response, I will admit, didn’t shake my squirrel cage. Like I said, if we have to pay for the app/upgrades lets hope the market is large enough they give them reasonable price points…

My bad. When I select a clip in the timeline the playhead moves over that clip. Just a quirk/annoyance when I’m mucking about most of the time I like to be able to park the playhead. I was hoping buried in here somewhere there was an option to keep it from jumping…I’ve searched in vain to no avail…

the beginning of the end to the obsfucation :)”Really? I think R.Harrington laid out a very good response, as did Walter, who feel more questions were raised than answers.

Here’s hoping.
I think what has kept everyone hammering it this week is the shear mountain of changes and or things felt thrown away. Like my little diatribe earlier, I’ve been playing with HD footage up until today and didn’t realize that the formats were truly locked. Every day we find something else lacking…big things
But, as I have said many times, there are some neat things that are in there with potential which could add some credence to the “time will tell” argument…my cynicism though tells me, to get it to a tool I’d want to even use on a somewhat consistent basis will probably end up costing 10x what we paid…but I’d love to see .99 apps for upgrades 🙂

As do I and have done so, which when applied, didn’t require me to engage and cosmically over-reach with an absurd response to a tongue and cheek post…
Cheers.

I can’t import files into the timeline in 2240×960…WTFGRTRUN@#$%!
Seriously…I cannot drag files into my timeline unless it conforms to Apple’s presets…
my god. If there is a workaround, besides conforming it, please tell me, this cannot be…it really can’t be. If it is…may god have mercy on Randy’s soul…not a threat, just…my god…what has he done!
/rant…but seriously, is there a workaround?

I think the real benefit here is if you want to take an essentially 1200$ add-on for 50$ now and add it to several machines to maybe farm…probably reaching…

Ok, I kinda saw this coming, but you did say you were dodging town for the land of techniques, but I guess you needed your own V style parting shot…
Firstly, it was a minor jab, and considering Mr Kenny’s unrelenting resolve, he’ll brush it off. But the jab was pretty much both ways. Tiny tiny maybe on his side…but that line honestly did make me chortle, maybe a guffaw.
On to the pop-psych.
I don’t think I really need to hold your hand through anything, you’re a big boy. And I’ll give you the respect the other side seems to have decided isn’t required when going toe to toe on this abomination. But context is needed. There have been blogs, an unrelenting hum, an endless bucket of needless characterizations and EASY needless punches below the belt…comes off as projection to be honest.
Some of us have drawn our lines here. I dug my heals in the sand and took exception once there was a blog post decidedly ripping into the reasons we don’t like it, that entirely made it personal…it was nothing short of sand being kicked in the face of those who have serious problems with this. Doesn’t mean I can’t keep good cheer, and have. But with the occasional borderline troll-ish post, which most are said with tongue firmly planted in cheek and not vicious in any manner, in parallel I have asked we pick up the class in this joint and quit this talking down to mentality to those that have serious issues here.
It’s gotten so bad it’s like having a conversation with someone whose back is turned to you listening to their ipod…or it’s conversation hegemony….instead of addressing it, they dismiss it, re-invent it and say it another way trying to take over your own personal feelings and tell you what you really think…good god. It does make one scratch their head….calling this out occasionally is nothing to get snitty over and to tell me to leave…am I name calling? Am I trolling the techniques forum..? I’m in what is now a discussion forum. I think you get that. Which is why this seems to have halted your patience here where you have continually mapped out your quest to leave. So, if this is your parting shot, I wish it was a better one, and sorry you are taking my posts with such disdain. But my convo with David was a lot longer than 2 posts and crossed his blog, and Chris here I’m sure can take it like the man he is (and proven in spades)…I do feel somewhat bad since I have a technical question I’m sure he’d love to answer, but probably won’t now…crap
Cheers
