Aside from that vomit inducing timeline, this has been my second biggest let-down.

Yup. But honestly, for me, it really is this timeline. I can’t edit in it. I just can’t. I want to punch it in the face. Even if all the features were there in terms of i/o, I’d still want to punch the thing in the face.
I just don’t get it. I don’t feel like an editor in it. I don’t want to hear I’ll one day “get it”…or I’m afraid of it…I simply don’t *enjoy* using it…I find it to be so heartless…it’ll never be in my arsenal unless absolutely forced on me by a client…and even then, I’ll want to chase them off my lawn..

Well, I think he isn’t exactly saying some of what is in there isn’t bold..to me, none of it is lol
But I got what he was saying, which is why I appreciated you posting it and why I only had a slight irk at the over use of “bold” lately to describe this pile…it’s not always a good thing, and he skirts that line there. I’m just way over the line, the line is so far from me it’s just a dot…

I find a couple of gripes and I still prefer FC in many ways, in the timeline, but the transition will be a quick one. I edited a couple of features and Docs on 1.5 and had a good time on it. CS5 is huge step forward too and is what FCX should essentially have been, but better…imo.

Unfortunately, it”s not “bold”…
The inclusion of features that may be too soon for the market is “bold” while keeping the old ones intact…marketing it as a replacement to FC at Superlies…er, supermeet, you know, a place for pros, not the Jetsons, getting your proxies to write up articles like “FCX doesn’t leave the pros behind” et al, is completely…oh whats the word, not bold, um.. > disingenuous…
They blew it, and I hate using the term but, blew it – by epic proportions…

Good god. Don’t take the bait.
Why wait, we go go buy 1 standard NLE feature right now for the low low price of 500$…or put that towards a serious toolset and let that supposed 95% play with their holiday “events”

Lucky. I’m stuck on CS5 for the time being, I really don’t like soundbooth that much, but I have Logic 8 (which I’m now extremely worried about) and STP to tide me over…
A couple of editors I have talked to, and this may shock you, are even more upset than me…mostly because they feel like they waited when they could have made the transition earlier and now it will cost them more. Most have said they had the impression from Apple that this would replace FCP not re-define it and make it obsolete to their workflow…I share that view. Apple I think has been very disingenuous…
They are just as mad today as they were a week ago. To me, either that says a lot, or says it will take a lot more time for this shockwave to settle…

I think it’s too early to make that judgement. They clawed back an inch so far.
Can you recall this level of backlash? Do you honestly think, this will be the end?
If they put FCS3 back on the shelves instead of taking their 30 silver, then we should expect some moves to gain back what they are inevitably losing at this point in time…if they don’t…. then that to me will ring as the last word on this…

White noise Ben. When I am constantly reading that the opinions here come from those that “fear change” and should be lumped together into some unhinged camp of old timers, or are simply “griping” or are just “not getting it” in a constant drum beat that has been corrected over and over and over and over and over and over with *specifics*, and *rational* problems that have created such a stench Apple has had proxies and themselves roll out PR to push back and replaced the prokit updaters…
I make no apology for leveling the charge in the face of this hyper-patronizing response that just won’t quit by some. This isn’t fear. This isn’t “griping” and I’m sorry to break this to you, but I think a lot of us here…”get it”…if you think my reponse is classless, I take exception to that when the first line of patronizing attacks were, and continue to be, classless. I have asked we pick this up a little here to no avail….
