Yes you need Snow leopard and the 285 for hardware accelerated Mercury Playback Engine.
And download the cudadriver_3.0.14

If.. you are using a receiver with 6 to 8 direct audio inputs,
I have used my M-Audio ProFire 610 ($360-$400). Use a combo cable with 8 TS to RCA.Now that I have a new receiver that omits those, I use HDMI
from my MXO2 mini to the receiver, also 8 channels.
With the latest 1.9 software the MXO2 audio also shows up
as an audio selection in the general sound prefs in OS X.
Select the output channels/layout in the Audio Midi Setup app. -
so…anything to report yet?

Sounds like a logical workflow, but…the fine print for this
on the AJA page is:The Hi5 does not encode the HDMI output with HDCP encryption. By definition, SDI/HD-SDI inputs to the Hi5 are unencrypted. The HDMI specification requires HDMI monitors to support unencrypted inputs.
(Same applies to the improved Hi5 3G with HDMI v1.3a).Your receiver may or may not require HDCP encryption to accept the HDMI signal.
For analogue surround from FCP and Soundtrack Pro, I use an M-Audio Profire 610,
or an MXO2 Mini with MAX from FCP for HDMI 8 channel output through my
Sony Receiver. Not trying to confuse this issue, except that a member here
tried the HI5 with his HDMI video monitor and it did not work because
it required HDCP encryption. (I know you are using component video)And yes I have a Kona 3 as well, with a dual quad core 3GHz Mac Pro.
I had considered an HI5 but went with the other options. -
um…there is no firmware update to be done on the LH or LHe only the KONA3.
-
But note that AJA has this to add:
“The Hi5 does not encode the HDMI output with HDCP encryption.
By definition, SDI/HD-SDI inputs to the Hi5 are unencrypted.
The HDMI specification requires HDMI monitors to support unencrypted inputs.”
Many consumer HD TV sets only accept Hi-def 1080p when it is HDCP encrypted. Some others will accept unencrypted. The manual for the set will tell you.
Check it out first before you buy the Hi5 -

January 16, 2009 at 11:28 pm in reply to: Hooking up AJA Kona Card to KL box to Monitor/decksFrom the manual:
The KL-box attaches to the KONA LHe card via cables that attach to the back of the
KL-box. These cables are supplied with the KL-Box (one 60-pin to 60-pin, and one 3-
BNC to 3-BNC). When you purchase the optional KL-Box, you get two-channel
unbalanced audio output (2 RCA Jacks)—not available with the standard cable.

Have you had a good look at the video:
“Kevan O’Brien, systems engineer for Adobe, demonstrates the workflow between Final Cut Pro and Adobe CS4 including the support for the Apple ProRes codec.”

Works for me with FCP 6.0.5

After installing this update, I can now get a FCP (6.0.4) project into AE CS4 (via PP) as shown in the video.

Update info:
“adds support for AAF import/export, Apple Final Cut Pro XML project import, and OMF export, along with numerous other stability and quality improvements.” -
