    Hi there

I just shot some HDV footage on A SONY V1P

In post I am applying a deinterlace, yet it is quite jumpy due to 1/50 shutter setting.

Is it possible to create a smoother, less jittery result, or am I at the mercy of the in camera data being too “slow/blurry”?

    Thanks

    Justin

[Justin Heaney] “In post I am applying a deinterlace”

What is the overall objective of deinterlacing this interlaced material?

    Hi Justin,
I think you better shot with the standard shutter speed and if you want a bit of movement blur you apply it in post.. Do it in camera and try to reduce it later is much risky. There are many plugins t do so. I use ReelSmart Motion Blur and works incredible.

Hi guys. I have a moving train, which has a logo on it. It moves by in foreground at a moderate speed, and on any given still frame, the logo is blurred. Can I make this logo less blurred by interpolation, deinterlacing etc….?

I know your pain Justin. I’ve been using a V1U lately and it’s got real issues when shooting things with a high degree of motion. And, I don’t think deinterlacing will help, as the problem typically has more to do with the way the shutter works on V1 camera than any problem with the interlace.

Anyway, the Apple deinterlacer probably won’t help at all. Try the demo from Natress.com and see if that helps.

    Thanks David

I assume the issue would resolve when shooting with a pre-tested high shutter speed of course!

Would that be a correct assumption? Or is the V1 not able to perform at higher shutter speeds very well?

[Justin Heaney] “I assume the issue would resolve when shooting with a pre-tested high shutter speed of course!”

I’m sure that would help. It’s just a shame that standard shutter settings are so “motion funky.” Thankfully, most of what I’m using it for is talking heads.

I guess is also an issue of the the MPG-2 25Mbps compression.
I’m saving money to put in my EX-1 the ConvergenDesing NanoFlash.
I will be able to record from the HDI/SDI from 50 to 160Mbps, 422, MPG-2 Long GOP or Intraframe.
I sow few pictures and looks incredible. No MPG-2 compression problems.
Is a bunch of money, but instead of the SONY SxS card (16 GB= 900$) you use Flash memory cards (32GB=150$).
