Have you check the folder structure from the file you’re trying to import down to the root? If there are Illegal characters on one of the folders you can get problems.
When bringing in footage you should AMA then consolidate/transcode rather that import, it’s quicker and better for workflow (Import is sill the option for stills/gfx etc). H.264 is fine to bring in to MC but it’s terrible to edit with, you’ll need to transcode it in Avid.

If you hold alt and drag another resize over the clip you can change the aspect of that resize (with fixed aspect selected) and it will preserve the ratio of the resize underneath.

Your lower third is hidden as it’s below your video track, NLE’s like Avid have a top to bottom hierarchy so your alpha needs to be above your video track.

If you click on the timecode display in quicktime player you can change how the timecode is displayed. You need to change it to non drop frame and then the correct timecode will be displayed.

October 31, 2012 at 3:24 pm in reply to: video tracks and the aren’t in the right orderIf you hold alt you can grab a track and rearrange it manually.
Have you moved any of the tracks manually and renamed or deleted them? If you move V1 to the top any new tracks will be created underneath. Create a new sequence and try to add tracks if they add normally then I that’s probably what has happened.

We use the Samsung SE 506
It’s cheap, very reliable, and works straight out of the box. Not the fastest in the world but burns a 25gb disc in about 50 mins which is more than enough for our needs.

October 10, 2012 at 2:04 pm in reply to: Losing the Grain through compression – why???When you say disappears, do you mean you can’t see even the faintest hint of the effect? Are you sending straight to compressor from FCP or are you exporting a Pro Res then compressing?
It’s hard to say without seeing how subtle the effect is, but I’d export a Pro Res then compress to H.264 to double check. Otherwise, like Micheal mentioned, increase the gain on the effect to compensate.

If the font is in your library’s font folder then it should show up in title tool, .otf fonts can have problems, I find some work and some don’t, .ttf fonts always work. If you have a background already made then that will work fine.

You have to copy the text into title tool and do it from there. Press the crawl button and the text will behave as you want. If you want a bar behind the text as in the video, use the paint tool on a layer below the text to draw it in.
