[Mark Dobson] “Thanks for that It works beautifully.
Is there any way this could be added to the effects section within the command editor so that a keyboard shortcut could be applied to it?
Or is the command editor an uneditable item, locked off?”
Did anyone work this out? I’d love to change command + T to audio only crossfade instead of stupid cross dissolve!
Thanks

February 15, 2012 at 3:55 pm in reply to: USB 2.0 Vs Firewire Extrenal Drives – Performance Difference?[David Eaks] ” FWIW I’ve had great experiences with LaCie D2 Quadra’s (2 drives daisy chained and setup as software RAID-0) connected via FW 800. It’s easy, cheap and provides decent amounts of storage and speed.”
Do you think I’d be able to set up a software RAID with a 1TB Western Digital Home edition and GRAID 1TB (that is already RAIDED 0 internally from 2 500 GB drives)
Somehow I think not but I’d be interested to find out. I’m guessing same brand/model/size works for software RAID’s
Cheers

I can confirm that the PCD20 9s slower over firewire than USB. A bit strange and a waste of my time trying to get to the bottom of this. Just annoyed as I can’t format P2 cards over USB

February 10, 2012 at 7:44 am in reply to: Digital “dropout” using AJ-PCD20 card readerHi All, I’ve just read this thread for another issue but I can report that I have also experienced dropout when daisychaining the PCD20 through firewire 800. I now connect directly to my Mac.
I have another connected issue though, which is why I was looking at this thread in the first place. My PCD20 is approximately half as fast when transferring over FW800 as USB. Surely this is wrong? I just updated the Firmware and I have installed the latest drivers but it is still half the speed.
Any ideas? I’ll just use it on USB for now but it seems a pity to not use FW800 transfer speeds

Hi I know this thread is very old but I have a question. You suggest cleaning the hard drives. Do you suggest erasing them and selecting “zero out data” or is just erasing them enough. Also on my iMac I have been using it to keep footage and editing with it for a while. I plan to only use externals for my media from now on but I was wondering should I make a complete back up using SuperDuper, boot from that back up and then erase and zero out data on my system volume in my iMac? It’s getting quite sluggish so I was wondering if this advice relates to system volumes as well. For example at my wotk I edit on a MAcBook Pro always on the internal drive. Again I plan to stop doing this but given that it was used this way for so long should I also erase and and zero out that drive.
Cheers

February 8, 2012 at 3:59 am in reply to: Advice on organising large FCP7 project in FCPX using 7toXHey thanks for you reply. Yes I’ve played around a bit and I’m ready to take the plunge in transferring this project over. I’m just getting into the edit so my sequences are pretty short right now. I’m planning on getting a long rough cut done then getting an editor onboard to help me make a fine cut. I’m worried I may be limiting my options by using X as some editors may have not learnt it yet but I really want to use X as I like the magnetic timeline and especially the browser. Thanks for your comments

Project Settings:
Video Properties: PAL SD – 720×576 Anamorphic – 25i
Export Settings- Share- Export media – Export – Video and Audio – Video Codec – current settings –

so
PAL 720×576 DV Anamorphic
as opposed to
PAL 720×576 Anamorphic.
DVCPro is classed as DV? I guess so?
Cheers I’ll give it a whirl

The functionality is there but it wasn’t working for me hence the post. What are those mysterious blue shaded sections?
