When I import DVCPRO HD 1080i60 clips that were logged and transferred in FCP6 the inspector in FCP X shows they are ‘lower field’. In FCP 7 the item properties say “upper”. Clips imported into FCP X direct from the same camera (HVX200) show as “upper field” in both FCP X and 7. Anyone else see this?

Interesting. Do you think it’s just mislabeled?

You can step through the fields holding down the option key as you hit right or left arrow.

You can also override the field order, so hopefully if it’s a bug, it’s not a deadly one.

I’ve just completed a PAL edit with footage from P2 DVCpro using FCP X

After exporting from FCPX and trying to compress using a program called M-Link Newscaster I got an warning message saying

“This looks like a PAL video but but has an unexpected field order (top field first)”

Sure enough when I analyse the output file in VideoSpec it says the top field is first. When I analyse the footage (that I ingested with FCP 7) it is bottom field first. SO it has changed during the edit

Why has FCP X done this?
Does it matter (I have a feeling it does my content is destined for television news)
How do I solve this problem?

    Cheers

How did you export and using what format, what are your project settings?

    Hi James,

I am experiencing the same issues, trying to maintain interlaced video but FCPX via Compressor 4 is convert to progressive.

Did you find the fix for this ?

    Thanks.
