Thanks for that Victor unfortunately I tried that and I just tried it again and what happens when I import the quicktime back in to final cut pro is that there is no audio on track 2 just on track one.

Still a mystery I’m afraid

I have just tried again and the same thing happened

The pathway of the resulting file is

G-RAID2(my external hard drive)/.TemporaryItems/folders.501/TemporaryItems/My newly created file

this may throw light on to the matter but I don’t really understand it. My computer did not crash
