    Answer:

    Droplets And Share Monitoring
When dragging and dropping a file onto a Droplet in the Finder, the Droplet window is now updated, also. It is cleaner and easier to understand, matching Compressor’s look. It allows the user to assign a custom Locations as the default when creating Compressor custom preset, and also change the Location in the Droplet window. What processing cluster to use (if others are available) and the job priority are also menus in the Droplet window. In the Droplet’s application menu, you can also launch the Share Monitor, with it’s new UI. Its function as well as its Preference window are pretty much the same, they just have the new UI. In Motion 5, the Share menu has an option to open the Share monitor, also.

I’m having this problem too. Just submitted a couple of jobs using a droplet but they aren’t appearing in active tab in compressor 10.1 and no share monitor. Any ideas?

November 6, 2013 at 7:49 am in reply to: FCP X/DSLR Slow Motion Question

Hi, further to the questions raised on this thread. If I want to shoot the slowest slo mo possible on a 5DMKii, without using optical flow then I shoud shoot 60p in NTSC mode. Put it on to a 24p time lines and conform speed.

My question concerns NTSC vs PAL. I live and work in PAL land so I know nothing about NTSC. in FCPX there is an option to have a timeline at 23.98 fps or 24 fps. Should I choose 23.98 as I’ve switched the camera to NTSC mode or shall I just leave it at 24fps. Or even 30p. What are the drawback of 24p if my output is for viewing on a computer.

    Thanks

  • [Kyle Bass] “Have you tried exporting them as WAV/AIFF files, separately, using roles?”

No I haven’t but I need it as one file that I can compress in a program called Newscasteer that maintains the distinct audio tracks. I need an mp4 and compressor mixes the tracks together when compressing an mp4.

I work in news so the editors that I send my footage to require distinct tracks

Do you think this is a bug related top the fact I used subframe nudging of the audio track?

Thanks guys. I agree it would be nice if one could assign roles upon ingest. Also I think when one creates a custom role one should have the Orion to save for all projects/events or just open ones. I’m continually creating the same role, I work in news so edits always the same

    Thanks for your advice

    Hi David,

What I mean is that when I select a clip and assign roles only the default ones show i.e dialogue and effects and video. The ones I have previously created do not appear. I have to create them a gain using the custrom role dialogue. Then a week later I’ll assign roles and they are saved then they are not. it sems random, why does fcpX not save the roles I have used. (it appears to but I can’t work out why they only appear sometimes)

March 22, 2013 at 12:46 pm in reply to: Performance issues with 50+ events

Thanks Everyone. I am running these events off a firewire 800 external. I do use event manager x, at the moment I have all the events open as I am sorting through a load of stuff. FCPX takes an age to load everything up but the real problem comes when I want to move a clip from one event to another. When I do that it has to load every single event before it copies. Once I haver loaded up all the events I can copy no problem but initially I have to wait around 10 minutes before I can move a clip successfully from one event to another. Once the initial load is done I can move clips around no worries. It’s almost as if FCPX doesn’t load everything up until it needs to. Can anyone explain this behaviour?

I just deleted it and now I’m using the same one but with a different font so I don’t really know what exactly happened

    Thanks Gentleman, I nailed it

The culprit was one of FCPX’s own titles that corrupted. As soon as I deleted it everything was fine. I found it by cut and pasting half the project into another time line. Trying to export that fine so I isolated it to first half. Cut that int o quarters etc etc until I got down to 1/64th of my film.

It was right at the beginning hence hanging on 1 percent every time I tried to export. I haven’t tried to render the project yet will try
