    Hi Katie,

You should place your jpg on the timeline and using the effects control tab of your preview monitor adjust its size and position to fit your tastes. Then drag your title file into the timeline on a higher track.

    Hi Jason,

Why not just stick to a 4:3 project? Then you have a little bit of leeway on manipulating the 16:9 footage. In order to avoid the sizing difference on transitions try stretching your 4:3 video to 102.5 or 103% to fill the frame.

    Hi Ben,

Have you tried copying the .vob files off of the DVD? You can change the file extension to .mpeg and then import into premiere for encoding into another format, or just play using VLC media player. There is also a program called mpeg streamclip that can rip the DVD to quick time for you.

    Great all purpose player: https://www.videolan.org/vlc/

    MPEG Streamclip: https://www.squared5.com/

PS: Check out the readme for instructions on mpeg streamclip. If you do not have quicktime pro then you will need quicktime alternative player for windows.

The DV capture audio does not stay in sync with the HD. It looks like the project will stay in SD. Thanks for your help David.

Hi David. Thanks for your response.
You are right the HDV audio is distinct. However the HD video and audio are synced with each other but drift in relation to the DV material. I noticed a few dropped frames in the HDV clips which could explain the drift. At least everything is good when I down convert the HDV on capture.

I am using a USB 2.0 SATA drive as my media drive. Could a data bottle neck cause the dropped frames in the HDV and/or the sync issues? Thanks again.

Did you move your FCS apps into a subfolder within the applications folder? That can cause the system update to miss out on the fact that FCS needs to be updated.

What about shooting your actors against a green screen? Then you could key in backgrounds from video games in post.

I agree with Alan. On a deadline you could forget to calibrate your monitor and realize the problem after it is too late. The scopes never lie.

February 17, 2009 at 2:03 pm in reply to: SD PROJECT now needs to be HDV

What version of Premiere? If it is Cs3 then you can create a new hdv project and import the original project into the hdv project. You can cut and paste what is in the SD timeline onto the new HDV timeline offline the media, capture HDV from tape and everything should be reconnected.

    Hi Eddie,

Thanks for the link. Converting my original mpg to mpg with mp2 audio worked and the file imported into ppro perfectly. I appreciate your help. Thanks.
