  • Final Cut won’t update!!!

Posted by Chadwick Chennault on March 19, 2009 at 4:40 am

I am pulling my hair out! I am in the middle of a huge project with a tight deadline. I was forced to reinstall Final Cut because it was crashing 20 times a day. However, now Final Cut will not update to 6.05. It’s stuck at 6.0.

I have tried everything. I used FCSremover before re-installing. I manually removed all of my FCS files. I have deleted all my reciepts several times. I have removed and reinstalled FCS 4 times tonight, and still Final Cut will not update.

Please help me before I go completely insane!

Are you updating vie software update, or are you downloading the updates via Apples web site?

Also what happens when you try to run the update? All you said is that you cant update.

    Hi
Have you installed all the successive Pro Apps Updates as well?

    Hi Chadwick,
As Paul points, don’t expect to see any “Final Cut update”.
They show up as “Pro Applications Update”.
Probably you will need to install something call “Pro Kit Update” , “Leopard Graphic Update.
And I think that to install the last versions you need to update QT and the very System.

Yes, it is the Pro Apps updates that I need. But the Software Update is not offering them, and they are not available via the Apple support site.

Does anyone one know where those updates can be manually downloaded and installed?

Also, a bit of history, I recently reinstalled my OS hoping that it would fix some of the problems I am having with Final Cut crashing constantly. I stopped updating at 10.5.4 because there is an issues with Motion and the 10.5.5 and 10.5.6 graphics drivers on my machine.

My current config is Late 2007 17″ Mac Book Pro 2.6ghz 4 gig RAM. I am running OS X 10.5.4, Quicktime 10.6 and Final Cut Studio 2.0.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

Did you move your FCS apps into a subfolder within the applications folder? That can cause the system update to miss out on the fact that FCS needs to be updated.

You can download from the Apple web site.
You need an Apple ID and the key number.

I tried that. It only allows me to download 2008-5. Useless!
