  • Looks sweet… never heard of that one. Thanks!

  • I responded but it doesn’t seem to be showing up – anyway that is a perfect place to start, I really appreciate your help. Thanks!

  • I’m familiar with C4D… I’m on a tight deadline so I’m willing to try anything. How, if you wouldn’t mind taking the time, would you approach this in Cinema?

Thanks so much for your help.

February 16, 2010 at 11:42 am in reply to: After Effects Adjustment Lights…

I remembered using negative lights in Maya a while back before I found out about Light Linking. So I’ve used the same principle in AE as there is no Light Linking in After Effects that I know of- using negative light to subtract light from certain areas of complex 3D scenes, based on where in the scene the negative light is placed.

But what I hadn’t thought of was that the same principle can be applied with Adjustment Lights, but that negative lights can be controlled not only by where they are placed in a scene, but as an Adjustment Light, a negative light also be controlled in a different way by where it is placed in the layer order which seems to make things much easier (so far). I’ve only used it in 2 projects so far but both times it’s worked the way I needed it to.

    Thanks for the kind words!

Right click the camera & select Show F-Curves. In that window, select the keyframes where the odd movement happens and right-click again, and select Zero Angle. That will correct the movement without having to lose the easing in and out.

    Thank you for your reply!

I’m a little bit confused as to how I would do that though…

  • Thanks for the reply. I sent the file to Maxon through their tech support page, hopefully I’ll have a solution tomorrow. Unfortunately I don’t have access to a machine with more RAM, so maybe Maxon can open it and delete the PBlurp stuff. I’ll save it out without it and then save another that I can try again.

    Thanks again for the help.

    Thanks, I’ll check it out.

  • Found it-

Select the light, open the timeline, go to Functions > Bake Object.
