The latest drivers are fully Mountain Lion compatible. What device are you using? Did you install the drivers in the correct order, i.e. Device Driver first followed by the UDF? Please uninstall both and reinstall in the correct order and let me know if this helps.

What version of Vegas? And is there sound on playback from the camera?
Older versions of Vegas may not recognize the LPCM audio used in our professional AVCHD format.

The original clips can be backed up in the CLIP folder and the Avid library clips and other non-XDCAM files (the op-atom files from Avid Media Files/MXF/#) can be backed up in the User Data folder. if what you need is just a matter of backing up XDCAM file with unique file names, set Free Naming on the device to ON. if you are using the U1/U2 drive this setting is in the drive utility application. On the decks and cameras it’s in the operational menu.

the EX-280 is not sold in the states so i don’t know it very well. that said the update should be the same as for any of the later PMWs. where are you downloading the file from? please provide a link and i’ll check it out.

Did you run the latest Mavericks update to 10.9.2? This solved an existing issue that caused much of the behavior you describe. If you’ve done this already I would remove all the SxS components and reinstall them. You must to the Device Driver first, then the UDF driver. Also you should be using these with the latest version of our Content Browser app. The older EX Clip Browser is no longer supported and will not run correctly under Mavericks.

The ProAV folder is usually hidden and contains all the raw, non-interleaved video and audio data. When you copy the whole disc including ProAV you are effectively copying the data twice. You can disable the ProAV folder display in the XDCAM Drive Utility. If you are manually copying using your OS or a 3rd party utility you can leave out the ProAV folder. The only exception would be if you are doing a mixed res workflow in Avid (Proxy video with high res audio), in which case you should preserve ProAV in your copies/archives.

No, the FS700R (or FS700U with the ‘R’ upgrade) will only output 12 bit RAW in the Sony RAW format. You’d need an AXS-R5/Odyssey 7Q to record the 12 bit raw signal. You can still do uncompressed recording from the camera head to any external recorder via HD-SDI but it will be 8 bit uncompressed video, not 12 bit uncompressed RAW.

The watermark is there because you chose the wrong export option or have the wrong preference selected. The one(s) you chose transcoded files to another XDCAM codec using the optional Main Concept plug-in, which runs as a demo until it is licensed.
If you are dragging the files to a normal folder from CB’s explorer window go to Preferences–>Edit and un-check ‘Convert XDCAM EX to MXF when copying to a normal folder’. This is a feature for doing batch exports and transcoding simultaneously.

The procedure is included with the firmware. You update using an application that connects to the camera via the hidden USB port on the rear panel behind the shoulder pad. It’s safe to do yourself but we’re happy to do it for you if you want to send it in.
