yeah. the trick is just making the animation interesting. i did a similar thing for an intro to my show, “the defenders of stan”
it’s all just about the 3d camera and putting the anchor points at the right place so that the rotation works to your favor. if you then parent things together, you could totally get the accordion thing going on.

i’m not sure if this is the issue or not, but i have noticed that on video cards that have an editable openGL menu, you can change the brightness, contrast, etc.
SO, in theory, if macs have openGL (im a pc) and if the settings are set differently, and if the preview is running through openGL, maybe this is the problem?
just a theory.

one thing that really helps me when i have to design thirds is to first look at the overall production elements.
are there graphical segues?
what makes up the intro sequence if there is one?then i play around in photoshop. the great thing about the adobe suites is the seamless ability to create something in one app, and then import, tweak, modify, or rework something. and after effects/ photoshop are no exceptions.
if youre familiar with photoshop, i’d suggest this method. then in after effects import the psd as a composition, and then you can work with the layers individually, rather than just as a flat layer.

i am JUST NOW having the same problem, though my opengl hasnt turned back on. it was fine the last time i used it, now it isnt.

right. then you just scale him up OR in your plate shot (the shot you would put the green screened footage over) you zoom out and leave the giant the same size.

i did a whole three strip process for an episode of the webshow i do wherein i had three seperate instances of the footage stacked. i only allowed one for green, one for red, and one for blue. then i tweaked the green a little towards yellow, the red a little towards magenta, and blue a lot towards cyan and blend them back together. then you compress the midtones. i was very pleased with my results.

oh. and something like the ‘only the receiver’ filter tweaked a bit would make for a nice headphone noise.

the fft filters in ‘edit mode’ have some really helpful presets that, if tweaked, will work really well.
for instance, ‘the club downstairs’ panned and stereo expanded will work really well for the nightclub outside.
